With so much of the attention surrounding Wes Welker in recent days, the future of the Patriots other Pro Bowl receiver has been kicked to the back burner.
At this time last year, rumors were swirling about Brandon Lloyd‘s potential addition to the Patriots’ receiving corps. Just one so-so season later, though, it appears the team might be in the process of parting ways with the wayward receiver.
Lloyd, who is set to turn 32 this summer, enjoyed some relative productivity during his first season in New England. He finished second on the team with 74 catches and 911 yards to go along with four touchdowns on the year. That sort of production would seem to merit the $4.5 million salary cap hit he holds for next season, but the Patriots seem a bit uncertain about his future with the team.
While productive, Lloyd’s “erratic” behavior off the field seemed to raise some red flags and supposedly has him on the outs with Bill Belichick and the coaching staff.
Lloyd is due a $3 million roster...

Back To Basics: New England Patriots Can Win, Even Thrive, Without Wes Welker
Wes Welker is destined for free agency and Patriots fans wonder if the team can live without the record-setting slot man. The reality is that the Patriots can not only live without Welker, they can thrive without Welker.
If Wes Welker is not a Patriot Next Year, Both Sides Lose
Contract negotiations between Wes Welker and the New England Patriots have gone to opposite sides of the spectrum and everywhere in between in a matter of days. I have ridden the Welker Contract Roller Coaster now for two offseasons in a row, and I have spent hours wondering about his future. I live and think like someone living in the modern Western world, so I think in terms of...
Wes Welker To Test Free Agency
The million question is how much of Welker’s success is based of him and how much of it is based off Tom Brady. I don’t care how great of a Wide Receiver you are, it helps having a Hall of Fame quarterback throwing you the ball, but I think people aski underrate Welker’s talent.
He isn’t a perfect fit for every team, but there are several teams I think he would fit in nicely...

Sam Reilly wrote a convincing argument as to why the Patriots need a guy like Wallace...

The Patriots chose not to franchise Wes Welker (or anyone, for that matter) on Monday, but that doesnt mean they dont have a plan at slot receiver if Welker is not a Patriot next season.
According to Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com, the Pats have a replacement in mind in Danny Amendola. Florio, who was a guest on the Dan Patrick Show on Tuesday morning, hinted that the Pats plan...
In case you didn't know, the Patriots are interested in Danny Amendola
Not really any sudden or surprising news here, but the possibility of free agent WR Danny Amendola becoming a New England Patriot seem more and more likely. So this has been considered almost a gimme for a while now, but with Wes Welker deciding to test the market, Amendola could be a factor in Welker's contract negotiations. Writer Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com says that...
