I just have to chuckle at this one. I have little to zero interest in politics, and adhere to the age-old saying: “they’re all idiots.” But Republican candidate Mitt Romney’s running partner, Paul Ryan, took it a step further during a recent campaign stop in Ohio. He praised the Cleveland Browns, and even went on to praise current rookie quarterback, Brendan Wheaton.

Pretty sure that says Weeden, not Wheaton. (photo courtesy of Cleveland.com)

Wait a second, who? Brendan Wheaton? Mr. Ryan, don’t you mean Brandon Weeden? This should be a lesson for politicians, unless you know what you’re talking about, don’t use sports to appeal to people.

Brandon Weeden Must Be Great Or The Cleveland Browns Will Move On

Everything is coming up roses in Cleveland because rookie quarterback Brandon Weeden looked much improved in last week’s preseason game against the Green Bay Packers. While it always is a good thing to see young players perform well even under preseason conditions, as with everything else in August, it also is good not to get too “up” or too “down” about anything. Everyone...

Browns Q.B. Brandon Weeden Shows Signs Of Improvement In Green Bay

Brandon Weeden the Browns 28-year-old rookie quarterback had a better game in Green Bay last night. Weeden looked goo handing off the ball to Montario Hardesty and his passing was better too. Weeden went 12/20 for 118 yards  and a 5.9 yard average.  The Browns defense looked like stars out there on the field. Weeden had some trouble when he was being pressured and the Browns receivers...

Weeden solid as Browns beat Packers

Rookie quarterback Brandon Weeden showed improvement in his second preseason game, avoiding major mistakes as the Cleveland Browns beat the Green Bay Packers 35-10 at Lambeau Field on Thursday night. Aaron Rodgers looked sharp in limited action, but backup quarterback Graham Harrell was shaky for the Packers. Weeden, a first-round pick out of Oklahoma State who already has been...

Weeden improves in second outing

The Cleveland Browns have already settled on Brandon Weeden as their starter, but his preseason debut was less than impressive. Fortunately Game 2 went a little more smoothly. After the game Weededn stated  ”It was definitely an upgrade for me over last week. I just wanted to go out and get better, and I think I did that.” While Weeden did improve, he still struggled under...

Brandon Weeden Improves in Second Preseason Outing

Browns rookie quarterback Brandon Weeden had an improved performance Thursday in his second preseason game, going 12-of-20 for 118 yards.Fantasy Spin:Weeden is a fringe No. 2 QB at this point but his presence may make a Cleveland Browns receiver ownable for the first time since Braylon Edwards was with the team. Plus, he figures to keep defenses from playing eight men in the box...

QB Weeden solid, Browns beat Packers 35-10

Eliminating major mistakes was the top priority for Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Brandon Weeden.

Steelers Fan Kurt Takes NFL Tramp Stamping To Next Level

Smell the air. Tilt your head back, stick your nose in the air & sniff. Take a deep breath. It’s that beautiful smell of Week 2 of the NFL preseason. Tonight’s games: Cincinnati at Atlanta, 8 p.m.; Cleveland at Green Bay, 8 p.m. Bud Shaw, of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, is already trying to tell Browns’ fans that Brandon Weeden might not be their savior. Ouch. Remember...

Question, Was Browns Q.B.Brandon Weeden That Improved Or Was He Scripted Not To Fail?

Last night the Browns took on the Packers and the Browns defense really stepped up in the game to take control. Brandon Weeden looked 400% percent better than he did in week one. I was impressed to say the least. What we saw in week one left me wondering what exactly it was the Browns front office was trying to sell us in Cleveland. I mean, here we had a guy that is 28 years old...

Green Bay Packers vs Cleveland Browns, Fantasy Football Analysis

[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="620"] Browns QB Brandon Weeden was solid against the Packers Thursday Night.[/caption] We all know that the NFL preseason doesn't really matter. At least the final score at the end of the game doesn't but for fantasy football owners there are plenty of things that can be taken away from these otherwise...

Good signs for Browns in pre-season win

Theres no sense sugarcoating that Cleveland Browns performance in preseason Game 2 Thursday night. That was a good effort. Never mind that Green Bay treated the game like a scrimmage and the Browns starters played more than the Packers its been a long time since so much positive came out of a game. The Packers may have seemed woefully disinterested, but it was a game the Browns...

Preseason win over Packers is bringing welcome excitement to Cleveland Browns

In two quarters of play last night in Green Bay against the diseased carcass of the Packers defense, Brandon Weeden exceeded our expectations by completing 12/20 passes for 118 yards, no touchdowns, and no interceptions for a rating of 76.7. Thanks to a Montario Hardesty fumble and time running out at the end of the half, only six of Weeden’s drives lasted more than one play. Four...

What We’re Watching: Browns at Packers

Well, here we are: The Dress Rehearsal. The Browns head to historic Lambeau Field to take on a team that was 15-1 just one season ago. As the Browns continue through their four-week journey of stadiums which will be empty by the third quarter, we here at WFNY will shed some light on the one thing we will each respectively be looking for from the otherwise meaningless contest. Naturally...

Despite a rough start, the Packers look ready for regular season play

Tonight's first half between the Cleveland Browns and the Green Bay Packers appeared, on paper, to be one of the most lopsided preseason matchups. While the score at the end of one half indicated the Browns were in good shape, the Packers' starters were clearly the superior team. When many of the Packers' starters left the field, the score was 13-7 in favor...
