The Tampa Bay Buccaneers made a big splash by finally obtaining the services of Darrelle Revis when they landed him in a trade from the New York Jets on Sunday. Part of the acquisition was signing Revis to a long-term deal that will pay him $16 million per season over 6-years. While it looked to be a no-brainer for the Bucs, a former legend of theirs is panning the deal and taking a shot at Revis in the process. NFL Network analyst, and newly elected Hall of Fame member, Warren Sapp, told Ira Kaufman of the Tampa Tribune that he believes that Revis is a ‘selfish’ player: “He’s selfish and he’s never been a team player,” Sapp said. “We didn’t win the championship that way. Derrick Brooks and I always cared more about the team than ourselves.” Sapp’s words are in stark contrast to many of his former teammates, like John Lynch, who praised Revis’ ability: “I played with Champ Bailey in his prime and I know what a cornerback like Revis can do for a defense,” Lynch said. “Like Champ, Revis is a guy who can neutralize No. 1 receivers, so you don’t have to dedicate extra resources to [...]
