He wasn't exactly the most beloved Eagle during his playing days in Philadelphia. More a symbol of Andy Reid's stubbornness to show that his players are capable of getting the job done than an actual playmaker, Mahe is now using his post football life to help others in need. Mahe will be heading to American Samoa to help in a relief effort for victims of the earthquake and tsunami.
My favorite part of the story is how Reno took the initiative to call Andy Reid who called NFL commissioner Roger Goodell who then called Mahe and the result was the NFL contributing $50,000 to the cause. All it took was a phone call.
With Brian Westbrook sidelined with a concussion, the Daily News asked Mahe if he thought about returning to the gridiron?
"I don't think so," he said with a laugh. "Unless they're going to give me a really sweet signing bonus."
Well if that doesn't work out, they may be looking for doormen at Play2.
