PLAYERS: Charlie Weis
The Charlie Weis Story. Sometimes it seems like he knows exactly what he's doing, and sometimes you really start to wonder. He had another Charlie Moment on Monday at Big 12 Media Days in Dallas. He was up there talking about his recruiting pitch at Kansas, where he coaches, and it came out he doesn't think much of his roster. "Have you taken a look at that pile of crap out there?" Weis asked . "If you can't play here, where can you play?" In other words, I'm Super Bowl champion Charlie Weis and I'm pretty great and if I'm not winning it must be that the players are REALLY bad. Am I being too hard on Charlie? Is this nothing more than a coach giving a truthful (if blunt) answer to a question in symbiotic return for some publicity? Is this actually . . . a breath of fresh air? Or is this a guy who went 2-11 last year, knows he has another bad team this year and is trying to set it up so he doesn't go the way of Turner Gill if the Jayhawks have another momentumless season? Does this man know what he's doing? Hard to say.

Charlie Weis had a terrible first season at Kansas. I don't think his plan for a quick fix is going to work.

Charlie Weis’ To Kansas Recruits: “Have You Seen That Pile Of Crap Out There?”

Weis did not disappoint with his answer. “Everyone wants to play,” Weiss said. “There...

Charlie Weis’ Brutally Honest Recruiting Pitch Includes Asking Players if They’re Better Than ‘That Pile of Crap Out There’

Move over “Rock Chalk, Jayhawk” the University of Kansas has a new, slightly less catchy saying floating around its football team. UK football has struggled in recent years, and in Charlie Weis’ first year as head coach in 2012, he did nothing to turn things around, limping along to a 1-11 record.  At the Big 12 Media Days on Monday, Weis divulged that his recruiting pitch...

Charlie Weis gives brutally honest recruiting pitch; bashes Kansas

jayhawk-talk.com There is very little in college football recruiting that is honest.  Some coaches guarantee starting positions, playing time or BCS bowl appearances.  Nick Saban guarantees that recruits don’t have to go outside. Lane Kiffin probably guarantees his kids a healthy paycheck.  Kansas head coach Charlie Weis won’t tout bowl appearances or money (that we know of...

Charlie Weis is using the perfect recruiting pitch to lure players to Kansas

Charlie Weis calls players crappy, now the memes crap on him

Charlie Weis to Kansas recruits: ‘Have you seen that pile of crap out there?’

Kansas struggled under Charlie Weis in his first season as head coach last year. The Jayhawks went 0-9 in the Big 12 and 1-11 overall. Simply put, they were one of the worst teams in the country. As a result of his team’s disastrous 2012 season, Weis has found it difficult to recruit top high [...]

Weis Ready For Fresh Start

As Kansas football coach Charlie Weis indicated at Monday’s Big 12 Media Day session, Kansas was picked where he expected to be picked and went further as to say that the Jayhawks will be picked last until they can prove doubters wrong by winning more games, especially within the league.

What it looks like when Charlie Weis evaluates his ‘crappy’ players

And here you have it, folks, exactly what it looks like when Charlie Weis evaluates his "crappy" players.

Bowden takes the higher road

DETROIT -- Terry Bowden has apparently been running -- he's lost 50 pounds and counting -- but in nearly 19 months on his latest job, he's neither run nor hidden from Akron's place as probably the nation's worst FBS football program. As good as life is at the top for Alabama, much of the rest of the SEC, Oregon, Ohio State and the like, it's just as bad at the...
