That was UGLY.
As much as we have been looking forward to the start of the football season, the performance of the Philadelphia Eagles against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday was upsetting. The elements of the game we thought would be givens didn’t come through and we now have an entirely new set of concerns.
It was a sloppy game. Too many penalties and the coaching left much to be desired. Instead of the blowout that we anticipated, the game was secured only in the last moments of the game by a single point.
The defense is the reason the Eagles are leaving Cleveland with a win. Sure, fine, they were going against the Browns and a rookie quarterback. But with 12 penalties for 110 yards and five turnovers–four of them interceptions thrown by Mike Vick–there is no reason this Eagles team should have won.
