For the first time since those Boston College lockout workouts (left), the Patriots took the field. It was just a walk-through, but that’s progress based on this offseason.
No, the soon-to-be acquired DT Albert Haynesworth wasn’t here yet, but others were. What went on?
– The Patriots did work slowly, as Bill Belichick said they would. It was a true walk-through, with frequent stops and a lot of teaching. No one wore helmets, even. A big change.
– There were 14 people unaccounted for, all in various stages of health. Several rookies weren’t present, including Ryan Mallett, Marcus Cannon and Nate Solder. Others included those not under contract, like BenJarvus Green-Ellis and Kyle Arrington. In addition, OL Nick Kaczur and Logan Mankins were not present, though Mankins was not allowed to be.
