Found October 30, 2012 on Midwest Sports Fans:
For just about a year now, I have been telling my friends, acquaintances, and even total strangers that I am an owner of the Green Bay Packers. Granted, I only own one share but, hey, I’m still an owner. Mike is NOT pictured above…but he could be. (This terrific image courtesy of Mike Roemer Photo.)   Becoming An Owner Actually, I was going to buy a share when they offered the stock sale a few years prior, but my business partner nixed the idea. For some odd reason, she considered food and shelter for our four kids as higher priority items. It was, I decided, the price one pays for marrying someone who doesn’t have Green and Gold running through her veins. However, when the Packers offered stock last year, the kids had grown and left the nest and my business partner had long ago declared her free agency, so I decided to take the plunge and enter the world of NFL ownership. Sometimes, it seems, being a recovering husband has its benefits. So I plunked down my $250 and waited patient...

Green Bay Packers action squad

Everybody in Green Bay loves the Packers and everybody likes action movies.  So what would happen if you took one of the more interesting groups of players on the Packers, the wide receivers, and placed them into cliché roles you see in every action movie?  Well you don’t have to think about it because I already did it. The Leader – Greg Jennings Key skill: Leadership The...

Packers Injury Report: Greg Jennings Surgery Postponed by Hurricane

Greg Jennings was scheduled to have surgery today in Philadelphia.  Thanks to Hurricane Sandy, that won't be happening anymore. The Green Bay Packers' wide receiver had his sports hernia procedure postponed because of the hurricane.  Now, Jennings doesn't know when he'll be able to have the surgery.  Originally diagnosed as a groin injury, it was later discovered...

It wasn't pretty, but a win is a win for Packers

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- It was an ugly win for the Packers. Or, in Jermichael Finleys words, a real nasty win. It wasnt the type of game that the team will look back on with pride, but Green Bay (now 5-3) hit the midway point of its season with its third consecutive victory. Handing out grades following the Packers 24-15 win over the Jaguars: Passing Offense: B- Playing without top...

It’s Time To Unleash Starks

Running back James Starks has only six carries in the past three games While Alex Green has averaged a pathetic 2.4 yards per carry in the past three games, a now healthy James Starks has carried the ball a total of six times. And five of those six carries came in garbage time against Houston. People can blame the offensive line all they want, but I blame Mike McCarthy. There’s...

Man missing for memorable Packers play

GREEN BAY, Wis. It had been more than 20 years since the Packers blocked a punt for a touchdown prior to Sunday's game. Apparently, all it took to end that drought was having only 10 players on the field. In Green Bay's 25-14 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, the key play of the game came in the second quarter when cornerback Davon House sprinted off the left edge to block...

Jermichael Finley Calls Packers Win ‘Disappointing,’ Says Defense Is Mad When Green Bay Offense Flops

A win is a win -- unless it's in Green Bay. While most teams would be happy to thump a visiting team 24-15 and call it a week, the Packers' Jermichael Finley isn't so pleased with Green Bay's outing this Sunday (even though the 5-3 Packers need all the wins they can get after that -- ahem -- loss to Seattle). "It's not ugly. It's nasty...

Packers used loss to Cards as stepping stone

TEMPE, Ariz. The last time the Packers came to University of Phoenix Stadium, the two teams staged one of the greatest playoff games in NFL history, with the Cardinals prevailing 51-45 in overtime when cornerback Michael Adams stripped Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers of the ball and linebacker Karlos Dansby returned the fumble 17 yards for a touchdown. Earlier on that series...

Randall Cobb tells Wisconsin students “Knowledge is Power”

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Randall Cobb remembers when he was a third-grader and he got the opportunity to see former New York Knicks player Allan Houston in person. Houston paid a visit to Cobb’s school and Cobb said he remembers thinking the experience was “pretty cool.” Now it’s Cobb who has the opportunity to impact students, which is what he hoped to do when he...

Jacksonville Jaguars at Green Bay Packers: Hero and Zero of Game

The Jacksonville Jaguars lost to the Green Bay Packers 24-15. The Jaguars went into the confines of Lambeau Field and emerged not victorious, but not demoralized either. The game still had its hero and zero. HeroDavon House and Dezmon Moses are the heroes of the game. While the Packers' offense is known for Aaron Rodgers, Jordy Nelson, James Jones, Donald Driver and Greg Jennings...
