PLAYERS: Drew Brees
TEAMS: New Orleans Saints
Atlanta-falcons-new
New Orleans Saints starting quarterback Drew Brees broke the all-time NFL passing record for most yards in a single season in 2011 yet his reward during the offseason was a franchise tag rather than a long-term contract extension.  The negotiation process has began to frustrate Brees, so much, that he’s beginning to speak out about

  • Ican not believe it should take so long to get a good contract for Brees. He has done so much for the team and the community. I don't think there is any quarterback in the league that has had to go through this torture to get a respectful contract. In my opinion give him what he wants he is well worth it. I am very disappointed in the Saints organization not giving Brees what he so deserves. Sants fan jujuann
  • Yes, Brees has done a truck load for the organization and the city. But obviously the organization clearly do not believe that he will be around long enough to see a long contract play itself out with similar effects. Whatever - the guy is a Saint both on and off the field. He is the most prolific QB the organization has ever had! He will be both the player and coach this season and is being asked to do so by the organization. If you don't think he will be around 5-7 more years than prorate his contract so the bulk of the money is paid later in his contract if he is still on the team in the later years of said contract. Come on - who else you got thats better than Drew? Pay the man!
  • I'm still wearing #9. I am so disgusted and frustrated with the Saints Org. for not having this deal done. They just keep telling us he'll be playing for 2012 season. Well I for one will not believe it until I know there is a deal done and that does not incl. having Drew sign the franchise tag. With all the negative attention they have received this off season and with the loss of our coach Sean Payton, you would think this would be done. Looks like the org. does not appreciate Drew Brees as much as the fans do, but in the long run the fans will make the org. pay for this. The way they are treating this elite QB is demeaning to him and the WHO DAT NATION. We are fed up with all the talk but nothing actually being done and now Drew has missed the first week of training camp. Don't keep moving your mouths Mr. Benson and Loomis get that deal done today!

Video: Saints and Brees running out of time

Over the weekend, our pal Mike Triplett of the New Orleans Times-Picayune updated the Drew Brees contract situation, writing that the chances of Brees and the Saints working out a new deal before the launch of OTAs next week are closer to none than slim. On Tuesday, Triplett made a return visit to PFT Live to discuss the Brees situation, which soon could become more significant to...

New Orleans Saints Owe Drew Brees More than Just Money.

The Saints Need To Stop Being Cheap With Franchise QB Drew Brees. Not only has the team dragged it’s feet in terms of giving him a lucrative but well-deserved contract extension but it also has gotten wrapped up in the ugly bounty scandal that will force Brees to play 2012 without head coach Sean Payton, who has called the plays since the quarterback’s arrival in the...

Saints’ owner Tom Benson isn’t worried about Drew Brees negotiations

Earlier this week Drew Brees called the negotiations between him and the New Orleans Saints “extremely frustrating,” a very understandable sentiment because of how much Brees has done for the organization and the city of New Orleans. Some Saints fans are getting restless with the negotiations and feel they should just pay the man what he’s earned, rather than believing he owes...

Mickey Loomis promises Saints will get a deal done with Drew Brees

The league’s most prominent contract negotiations right now are between Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints. Brees saved the Saints franchise from mediocrity and a possible move from New Orleans, yet the organization is still playing hardball with the single season passing yards record holder. Yesterday, Brees spoke out and called the negotiations, as you could expect, “extremely...

Getty Images According to Juan Kincaid of WWLTV in New Orleans, Saints owner Tom Benson has guaranteed that they will sign quarterback Drew Brees to a new contract, despite the fact that both sides have gotten no where this offseason. It’s time for Benson to step in and demand that Saints general manager Mickey Loomis give Brees whatever he wants. Brees saved the Saints after...

Fantasy Football value picks for the 2012 season

Today we’re taking a look at eleven players who, I believe, are currently being undervalued in the marketplace. Should these following stock prices hold steady until August, I’m betting that you’ll find some excellent draft day value in a few of the names listed below. Philip Rivers, QB, San Diego Chargers: Since 2008, only Drew Brees [...]

Saints general manager Mickey Loomis says he isn't taking any of Drew Brees' recent complaints about slow contract negotiations personally. Loomis spoke while attending a Saints Hall of Fame event...

Brees frustrated with Saints lack of effort

Saints quarterback Drew Brees has been waiting all offseason to get a long-term contract done, and he’s getting sick of waiting. Brees said in an interview with WWL radio that he’s growing increasingly frustrated with what he sees as the Saints dragging their feet in getting a new agreement worked out. “This is a big time for our team, especially when you look at what’s happened...

Saints To Open OTAs Without Coach Sean Payton, QB Drew Brees

The Saints will kick off OTA practices on Tuesday. It's the first practice for the Saints without Sean Payton as the head coach during his year-long suspension. But the absence of Drew Brees from the OTA sessions will be the bigger storyline as there seems to be no end in sight for Brees' contract negotiations with the Saints.
