Packer Fans United:
Green Bay Packers GM Ted Thompson started the 2013 NFL Draft on Thursday night with eight draft picks. By the end of the second day of the draft (rounds 2 and 3), Trader Ted had accumulated 12 picks total at his command...10 of them for use today as the Draft winds up with rounds 4 through 7.To briefly recap, Thompson and the Packers stayed put at number 26 in the 1st round and got someone they had apparently been targeting: UCLA DE Datone Jones. Former coach and now ESPN talking head, Jon Gruden, called Jones his "sleeper pick" of the 1st round. The general consensus was that the Packers did very well getting Jones, who should make an immediate impact on the defensive line's overall performance. The Packers were set up in the second round to pick at number 55. However, they traded down out of that pick with the 49ers. For dropping six spots to number 61, they picked up the 173rd pick overall. The drop didn't seem to hurt them any, as they wound up selecting arguabl...
BEST OF MAXIM
The Green Bay Packers generally remain dormant when it comes to free agency in the NFL so the draft takes a whole new level of importance. Last year the Packers went defense-heavy in the draft as it was sorely needed and this draft is off to the same start as last years.
The Packers, with the 26th pick of the draft took Datone Jones, a defensive end out of UCLA.

Ted Thompson just presided over his ninth draft as Packer GM
With the NFL draft now complete several things have become clear: the Packers’ coaching staff feels a lot better about the middle of its defense than the pundits do, and that they are finally planning to pay more than just lip service to the team’s running game.
After being exposed on defense in the playoffs the expectation...
GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Ted Thompson believes the key to late-round draft success is having as many picks as possible. The Green Bay Packers' general manager likens it to baseball in that the more swings at the plate available, the more likely one of them will be a hit.
On the final day of the 2013 NFL Draft, Thompson exercised that philosophy to its fullest, selecting nine players...
No wonder Ted Thompson was content to trade back on Friday. There is plenty of talent still on the board, including an abundance of linebackers. Here's a good guess at the strengths and weaknesses of the draft board heading into Saturday.
In a bizarre day at Lambeau Field, Ted Thompson added four picks to give himself 10 shots at hitting the lottery on Saturday. He also "lost" on his three trades and made two deals with rival San Francisco, which took four players in the first three rounds compared to the Packers' two.
GREEN BAY, Wis. Ted Thompson and the entire Green Bay Packers' front office deserve a lot of credit for taking care of Aaron Rodgers two years before the team had to.
This was not a Joe Flacco situation for the Packers and their star quarterback. Green Bay wasn't in danger of potentially losing Rodgers to another team had this new deal not been agreed upon now.
Let’s give Ted Thompson and his crew another pat on the back as the Green Bay Packers fan-dangled a highly regarded draft class once again.
The Packers traded for more picks, took advantage of sliding prospects and took the necessary chances on unknown players.
Here’s what I thought of each and every one of Green Bay’s eleven picks in the 2013 NFL Draft:

The Green Bay Packers came through the three days and seven rounds of the 2013 NFL Draft with 11 selections when it was all said and done. GM Ted Thompson started off on Thursday with eight picks, wound up at the end of that day with a total of 10 yet to be used for the remaining rounds; yes, that would make 12 overall. But he used one of those picks on Day 2 to move up a few spots...
No running back during Ted Thompson’s tenure in Green Bay has been selected higher than Alabama’s Eddie Lacy. But Lacy’s fall in the draft is the big story. Read what Thompson, the Packers’ director of college scouting and a former NFL general manager said about Lacy on Friday night.
