Ruben Brown, who spoke at the Wednesday Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame press conference where he was announced as one of 12 inductees for 2011, told a funny story about the days leading up to the 1995 NFL draft while he was still at Pitt. Brown was talking about how he quickly came to love Buffalo and still makes his home here where he’s raising his family. But prior to being drafted his U.S. geography wasn’t as sharp as it is now. “When I was in Pittsburgh and getting ready to be drafted there were a lot of places that I thought I would like to be,” he said. ”Tampa Bay was on the board. My college buddy and I were picking out houseboats and how great it will be to go from Pittsburgh to Tampa. And on draft day Buffalo called and I’ll never forget it, John Butler told me, ‘You’re coming to Buffalo.’ And I’m like, ‘Where is that?’” Brown admitted that it did not reflect well on his education, knowing it’s about a 3 1/2 hour drive north from Pittsburg...
