Found October 14, 2013 on Waiting For Next Year:
Cleveland sports fans are waiting. Thus, while we’re all waiting, the WFNY editors thought you might enjoy reading. Because you never know how long we might be waiting. So here are assorted reading goodies for you to enjoy. Send more good links for tomorrow’s edition to tips@waitingfornextyear.com. “Should the Browns have won this game? Probably. Unfortunately, we found out Sunday that Brandon Weeden is not only not a good quarterback, but he can’t even be a game manager. He can’t rise to the occasion. And his signature play is now a left-handed shot-put of a throw that was intercepted and essentially sealed the victory for the Detroit Lions.” [Delco/The OBR] —- Don’t know that I agree with this one. “The Browns might be better served being a little more restrained with just how much or how many they blitz or increase the amount of players that show blitz but drop back into coverage. The Browns are living by the blitz and dying by the blitz. That is who they are and who they want to be, but it is biting them and teams have been able to figure them out over the course of a game. They need to find a way to keep teams guessing and keep them off balance. They also need guys to step up and make great plays individually. Players need to win on an individual basis more consistently so they make those blitzes and this pressure scheme count for more.” [Smith/Dawg Pound Daily] —- “At the end of the day, though, Cleveland has themselves to blame. They couldn’t generate a lick of pressure on Matthew Stafford. Despite the fact that Johnson was largely a decoy, Reggie Bush provided a spark for the Lions. Inside linebacker Craig Robertson did not have a good day in coverage, and the defense allowed an undrafted free agent tight end, Joseph Fauria, to catch three touchdown passes against them and do a stupid touchdown dance after each of them.” [Pokorny/Dawgs By Nature] —- “Obviously, those carrying the ball also have a lot to do with the rushing successes overall. That said, this year’s top two rushers are Carlos Hyde and Jordan Hall which is quite frankly, probably the least dominant 1-2 punch of leading rushers in comparison to duos over the five years prior that featured tandems such as Miller/Hyde, Miller/Boom, Boom/Pryor, Pryor/Saine and Beanie/Pryor. Also, of the eight Ohio State running backs with at least 10 carries this season, six of them are averaging 6.1 yards or more per pop. Again, there are some talented runners in the stable but they’d be the first to tell you how much easier their job becomes when huge holes or set edges allow them to reach top speed for before encountering any resistance, most often at the 2nd level.” [Lauderbeck/Eleven Warriors] —- Finally, if you haven’t seen the picture of the Michigan fan getting pepper sprayed at the Penn State game, well here. Video: Cleveland Browns fan burns Brandon Weeden jersey

Nobody in Browns town likes it when the Browns lose, but one fan apparently hated it so much that he filmed the burning of his Brandon Weeden jersey. As I stated on Twitter last week, I haven’t bought a Browns jersey since my Kellen Winslow one was rendered useless. I bet this Browns fan wishes he could say the same. Or maybe pyromania is more exciting than not wasting money on...

NFL News: Cleveland Browns stick with Brandon Weeden as starter

The Browns surprised few today when Rob Chudzinski announced that they were sticking with Brandon Weeden as starter. Sure, Weeden might have thrown one of the worst passes in NFL history yesterday in a loss to the Detroit Lions, but who else were they going to use? Did you also forget that Jason Campbell’s brief appearance for the Browns in the second game of the year also included...

Twitter reacts to Brandon Weeden’s horrific interception

What was the sports world thinking when Browns quarterback Brandon Weeden “threw” this history-bound pass? WFNY has you covered, and it may or may not have been just as one would expect. It’s safe to say that Cleveland and NFL Twitter alike saw a considerable spike in activity… Brandon Weeden just threw a pass like one throws a frisbee. It's no surprise that it was intercepted...

Cleveland Browns Fan Posts ‘Quarterback Wanted’ Craigslist Ad, Says ‘If You Can Throw a Ball, Come Apply’

Brandon Weeden just isn’t cutting it in Cleveland in the minds of some fans. The Browns seemed to have some semblance of a shot this season, but one fan has grown impatient with the team’s quarterback, so that fan has taken to the best place to find whatever random thing you are looking for — Craigslist — in search of a new signal caller. Weeden has a 71.4 passer rating and...

Brandon Weeden’s Terrible Interception (GIF)

The Browns were up 17-7 at halftime, but did not manage to score after that losing 31-17; this certainly didn’t help Brandon Weeden and the Browns’ cause. Granted Lions linebacker, DeAndre Levy made a fantastic play on the ball, this was one of the more poorly executed plays of the 2013 season. The post Brandon Weeden’s Terrible Interception (GIF) appeared first on The Farm Club.

Browns not making switch at QB

Browns coach Rob Chudzinski will not bench quarterback Brandon Weeden following Sunday's loss to Detroit. Weeden threw an interception in the fourth quarter of the 31-17 loss to the Lions, who outscored the Browns 24-0 in the second half. But Chudzinski said Weeden played ''well in spurts'' and he has no intention of making a switch to backup Jason Campbell...

No QB change coming for the Browns

Browns QB Brandon Weeden hasn’t been playing high level football. He may have had the ugliest interception of the season when he tried to backhand a pass against Detroit that eventually resulted in a TD. That was one of two interceptions on the day for Weeden. Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that that doesn’t open the door for backup Jason Campbell. Chudzinski...

Chudzinski Sticks with Weeden

Despite the poor second half Sunday against the Detroit Lions, the Browns announced Monday that Brandon Weeden will continue to be the starting quarterback for the 3-3 squad.

Can the Browns give fans anything to believe in this year?

It’s a confusing time to be a Browns fan. I guess it’s always a confusing time to be a Browns fan, but this is a conundrum almost unlike any other since 1999. The Cleveland Browns might not be traditional trailblazers, but they do find new and interesting ways to confuse their fans. The Cleveland Browns are in contention right now, but they’re really not. Their record says...

Suh reportedly fined for Weeden hit

A person familiar with the decision tells The Associated Press the NFL has fined Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh $31,500 for a hit on Cleveland Browns quarterback Brandon Weeden. The person spoke Wednesday on condition of anonymity because the fine had not been announced. Earlier in the day, Ndamukong Suh insisted he was unaware the NFL was reviewing his hit on Weeden...
