Despite his excellent play, the costs he will demand outweighs the rewards he brings. Alterraun Verner has a lot of things going for him; he is smart, he is having an excellent year, and he is a fan favorite. However, at the end of the day will the Titans fans be able to look at him objectively and fight the urge to break the bank for him? Verner has played lights-out this year, but at the end of the day he is still just a cornerback and cornerbacks don't win football games. (Well at least not in their second contracts) Take this list of cornerbacks with base salaries of over $7 million this year. You tell me if you think they are winning their teams games.

Kendall Wright Suffers Foot Injury

Titans receiver Kendall Wright left Sunday's game against Oakland with a foot injury.Fantasy Spin:Wright had managed two catches for 54 yards. He had caught 16 balls over the past two weeks and caught the eye of many fantasy owners. They like his receptions per game average, but not his limited ability to get into the end zone. He has just one touchdown catch this season - in Week 2.

Titans' Ryan Fitzpatrick has made turnaround

Ryan Fitzpatrick’s first two starts this season were so poor that the Titans were more than eager to welcome Jake Locker back from injury — even if he wasn’t completely healthy. A ninth-year pro, Fitzpatrick threw four interceptions in those games, fumbled three times and posted a 53.2 passer rating, which was hardly the kind of production the Titans expected when they signed...

What the Raiders can expect from the Titans' defense on Sunday

In advance of the Raiders/Titans game on Sunday, I asked him some questions about what the Raiders can expect from the also-inconsistent Titans on Sunday. Question 2: Tennessee has 26 sacks on the season (one behind the Raiders 27). Where does the pressure primarily come from: the defensive line...

Fitzpatrick to Wright and Hunter leads Titans past Raiders, 23-19

It was about the game you thought it would be at the O.Co Coliseum-rarely pretty to watch, with too many field goals for comfort, but in the end the Tennessee Titans came away with the win over the Oakland Raiders they needed to stay in the playoff race. It was a close-run thing, with the winning score coming from Ryan Fitzpatrick to Kendall Wright with just :10 to play after the...

Tennessee Titans Injury Report: Morgan, Hunter, Schwenke

The Tennessee Titans take on the Oakland Raiders this Sunday, and hope to avoid falling victim to the all consuming black hole that is realistically a mosh pit of football enthusiasts and silver face paint. The Titans signed quarterback John Skelton last week, affording themselves a capable backup should starter Ryan Fitzpatrick prove incapable of filling the void created by Jake...

Tennessee Titans at Oakland Raiders: Three Bold Predictions

The Titans were starting to develop a chemistry with quarterback Jake Locker, until he got diagnosed with a foot injury (Lisfranc ), that will sideline him for 5-6 weeks. Therefore, this leads the team in the hands of Ryan Fitzpatrick, who has shown in the past he can lead a team to success. In helping him ease into the starting job, the Titans went into last week’s game against...

Titans, Raiders meet hoping to keep playoff hopes alive

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- It might be November, with more than a third of the season still to play, but you can call Sunday's game in Oakland between the Titans and host Raiders a playoff elimination game. Both the Titans and Raiders are 4-6 and among a gaggle of eight AFC teams sitting at either 5-5 or 4-6 and vying for what appears to be only one available wild-card spot. In the...

The catch capped a 14-play, 80-yard drive that took six minutes off the clock and kept the Titans (5...

PFS Titans Panel: X-Factor Week 12

At the beginning of the season, this game appeared to be an "easy win." There was no way that a far-improved Tennessee Titans team could lose to the Oakland Raiders. Tennessee Titans (4-6) at Oakland Raiders (4-6) The Raiders may be 4-6, but they aren’t as good as their record. Their 4 wins have come against teams that are a combined 11-29.
