Vince Wilfork delighted the crowd at the Patriots' Hall Speaker Series on Monday night. But between the laughs, the New England defensive tackle responded to questions with some candid answers.

While much of what Wilfork said throughout the evening was said in a joking manner, he was more than willing to tackle any questions thrown his way.

Wilfork was asked what part of the NFL he'd like to change if he could, according to the Boston Herald, and the Patriots lineman said he'd get rid of certain penalties.

"I can do without them," Wilfork reportedly said. "You have a guy that's making $30 million a year [the quarterback[, but you can't touch him. C'mon, let's be for real now. Me as a defensive lineman, it's OK for somebody to hold me up, and another guy to come and chop my legs, and I can't protect myself. I can do without that. That's probably the main thing. Being able to hit a quarterback good. We need that. We need that back right there.

"But you hurt the franchise of your team if you're allowed to tee off on the quarterback," Wilfork continued. "Cuz you know, quarterbacks are wimpy."

According to the Boston Herald, Wilfork was asked to step into another large man's shoes; Jets head coach Rex Ryan. Wilfork was asked whether he'd start Mark Sanchez or Tim Tebow at quarterback this season -- a question that could eventually become a hot topic of discussion should Sanchez and the Jets stumble out of the gate.

"Tebow. He's a winner. He's proven," Wilfork reportedly said. "I mean, I'll tell you what, both have positives and negatives. You really can't go wrong. I'm glad I'm not in that boat. Put it like that."

Also during his Q&A, Wilfork reportedly called teammate Logan Mankins the best guard in football, said he doesn't talk trash on the field and noted that he prefers an interception over a sack.

However, it was Wilfork's humor that apparently stole the show.

Patriots, Packers have easiest paths to Super Bowl XLVII

The NFL released team schedules on Tuesday and according to the strength of schedule for all 32 teams, the New England Patriots and the Green Bay Packers will have the two easiest schedules for the 2012 season.Strength of schedule really doesn’t mean so much in terms of a team’s chances of making it to the Super Bowl since it is only an indicator of how many wins a team’s combined...

Visits from Peyton Manning, Randy Moss Raise Patriots Odds to Win Super Bowl

The 2012 NFL schedule was released Tuesday night and it seems to be a positive slate for the New England Patriots. They are currently 8-1 AFC favorites at Bovada to win Super Bowl XLVII next February in New Orleans. The new projections are a slight rise from the 7-1 odds the Pats were right after this year's Super Bowl. Green Bay remains the favorite to win it all next year at...

North Shore Youth Football Giveaway

I just got back from an interesting shopping experience in Evanston, IL. By chance I saw a sign for a book sale and for me that’s like a sign promoting free donuts anywhere near Vince Wilfork. So I stepped in and it was a mecca of sports themed books! So I started perusing and grabbing and loading up boxes and as I perused and grabbed I started talking with Scott Clayborne who...

Patriots Draft Potential: Running Backs

By Chris Warner Our series on Patriots positions of need marches on with an inspection of available running backs. Though the team lost free agent Benjarvus Green-Ellis, second-year players Stevan Ridley and Shane Vereen look primed to pick up much of that production. New England returns Lil’ Danny Woodhead and adds fullbacks Spencer Larsen and Tony Fiammetta, the most fullbacks...

Patriots Draft Potential: Defensive Linemen

By Chris Warner Today we preview potential Pats picks for defensive linemen, one of the team’s biggest areas of need (emphasis on “biggest”). While New England boasts human doorstops Vince Wilfork and Kyle Love, the team has had a difficult time tracking down a long-term solution for a third upfront defender. Veterans like Gerard Warren have filled in well, but the Pats need...

BenJarvus Green-Ellis: new number and a new role?

Perhaps the most notable free agent signing that the Bengals made this year was in former New England Patriots running back, BenJarvus Green-Ellis. He has been a productive NFL back since going undrafted four years ago, but unfortunately has been stuck with the label of not being a "breakaway back" or being capable of generating big plays. One thing that can't be...
