Found June 27, 2013 on Football and Futbol:
PLAYERS: Kevin Kolb
TEAMS: Buffalo Bills
The Probable starter for the Buffalo Bills looks to be Kevin Kolb.  Some fans may have doubts if Kevin can make it through a whole season.  The best thing for the organization is to have E.J. Manuel sit for the 2013 season and refine his pocket awareness and throwing motion, E.J. at times over throws his wide receivers.  E.J. is going to be a franchise quarterback so I would start him in the 2014 season.  I’m not sure if Kevin Kolb is the right QB to be E.J.’s mentor if no changes are made we will soon find out.  The Buffalo Bills offensive line isn’t as good after losing Andy Levitre (Guard) to the Tennessee Titans.   The Bill’s will need to make some changes to the offensive line to give either quarterback a chance.  Zebrie Sanders should be moved inside to have an offensive line of Glenn, Sanders, Wood, Urbik and Hairston.  I think the coaches may try this line-up in the preseason.  The key to Kevin Kolb’s success would be staying healthy.  Kevin didn’t play a full season with the Arizona Cardinals in the two seasons he was there.  Many people criticized the Cardinals offensive line but the Bill’s O-line may struggle as well.  This is why E.J. Manuel should sit this season.   All we need to do is look at what happened to David Carr with the Houston Texans he got hit so much during his first three years it effected how he played and turned David into a back-up QB. David still has a good arm it would have been great to see him play behind and NFL caliber offensive line.  I believe that the Texans did a disservice to David Carr and feel any organization that have a sub-par offensive line should take the time to build the O-line unit before starting a rookie quarterback.  There is no doubt that E.J. Manuel is going to be the game one starter in 2014.  The question is how the Bills treat the quarterback position for the 2013 season.   Kevin Kolb can be a functional starter for a couple of games. He has never played more than 9 games in a season. When Kevin was with the Eagles 2007 played 1 game, 2008 6 games, 2009 5 games, 2010 7 games, two seasons with Arizona 2011 9 games, 2012 6 games. Kevin’s completion percentage for career 59.9 and a passer rating of 78.9% total passing yards for career is 5,206.  Maybe the Bills should look at bring in another veteran quarterback to push or back-up Kevin so E.J. can sit the season out and learn for the 2014 season.   More times then not a team will start a back up during the season due to injury.  The need for a good back up is very strong, some options for QB T.J. Yates (Texans), Kirk Cousins (Redskins), Kyle Orton (Cowboys), David Carr (Giants) in a trade or Billy Volek as a free agent.  The best option is to have E.J. Manuel the 3rd QB on the roster and have two veterans ahead of when the season starts.  I would also put Jeff Tuel QB from Washington State on the practice squad.  The QB position is showing signs of stability in the coming years.

DJ’s Chalk Talk: Bills Wide Receiver Battle

Welcome to DJ’s Chalk Talk, a place where we look at the offensive side of the ball and focus on strategy and predictions for the Buffalo Bills throughout the season. With my inaugural “DJ’s Chalk Talk,” we begin with an analysis of the Bills wide receiving corps going into training camp, and what I think the outcome will be. This may not be the most popular position battle...

Mario Williams shows off an M16 with a silencer and two handguns on Instagram (Photo)

Buffalo Bills defensive end Mario Williams posted a photo of himself on Instagram holding an M16 with a silencer and two handguns. I’m not sure why Williams posted this, but it’s really stupid.  Especially after Aaron Hernandez was just arrested for murder on Wednesday. Williams has the right to bear arms, but I don’t see a reason for owning an M16. Need NFL Tickets? ...

2013 NFL season preview: Buffalo Bills

The Bills are evolving but their record will not be much different. I believe the Bills drafted solidly this spring, but they are clearly in rebuilding mode. They also have to deal with a starting QB conundrum. Buffalo is brining in Doug Marone, a first year head coach. The Bills have some playmakers that will pop out to the entire nation this year, but they’re far from a playoff...

E.J. Manuel setting high standards for himself

E.J. Manuel, the first QB selected in the entire 2013 draft, claims that he is ready to take on this great responsibility. “You’re always going to be watched, always going to be evaluated each and every day. You’ve got to take that responsibility and respect it,” said Manuel. Manuel believes that he is the best QB from the 2013 draft class. He also believes that he should...

Ill-timed Hernandez joke by Williams?

Mario Williams keeps getting in the news for all the wrong reasons. The Buffalo Bills defensive lineman is embroiled in a dispute with an ex-fiancee. He gave her a $795,000 engagement ring and now wants it back because the marriage is off. And now, something else that seems to be off is Williams' timing and sense of humor. On Instagram, he posted a photo of his version of...

NFL is now banning seat cushions in stadiums

It’s a tradition as old as Buffalo Bills football, especially for many older fans: Carrying a seat cushion into Ralph Wilson Stadium, or the old War Memorial Stadium, for comfort and protection against the elements during Bills games. Alas, that tradition is now just that – history. Seat cushions are now banned, and that edict comes from the National Football League, which fears...

Bills expected to unleash the blitz

According to ESPN’s John Clayton, the Buffalo Bills are expected to blitz more in 2013 with new head coach Doug Marrone. The Bills can blitz all day if they want to, but it they don’t get to the quarterback, they’re going to get ripped apart.  On the other hand if they can get to a quarterback like Tom brady, they’ll make things very difficult for a division foe like the...

Spiller on board with Bills' by-committee RB plan

BY DAN BEGNOCHEAfter watching C.J. Spiller average 6 yards a carry last season, Buffalo Bills fans hope the electric tailback's touches skyrocket this year.Spiller would just be content with busting the team's playoff drought. Jim Kelly says the Patriots are vulnerable, Aaron Hernandez was stupid

Former Buffalo Bills quarterback Jim Kelly told the NFL Network that he doesn’t feel sorry for the Patriots now that they were forced to release tight end Aaron Hernandez after he was arrested for murder on Wednesday. “I don’t really feel too sorry for them,” Kelly said, via the Buffalo News, “because sooner or late the Bills got to rise to the top, and if we have to take...

Mario Williams Mocks Aaron Hernandez’s Love Of Guns Via Instagram (Photo)

Mario Williams has gone through his share of scrutiny over the past two months, so it’s no shock that Williams would jump for joy when the spot light got off of his love life, and onto the better than a movie, scenario Aaron Hernandez is going through. Pro Football Talk is reporting that Williams used his Instagram page as a tool to mock Hernandez and his affinity for handguns...

Mario Williams pokes fun at Aaron Hernandez on Instagram page

Buffalo Bills defensive end Mario Williams had a little fun with with the sordid Aaron Hernandez murder saga by using the accused tight end's image in a mocked up Instagram for the violent video game Grand Theft Auto In the digitally-altered image, Hernandez’s face is imposed on the body of a cartoon, tattooed thug sitting on the hood of a car and holding a gun. The logo in...

Return to Relevance: The Offensive Line

Definition of RELEVANCE: 1.  relation to the matter at hand 2.  practical and especially social applicability : pertinence Let me use this in a sentence you may be familiar with: The Buffalo Bills lack relevance in the current landscape of the National Football League. How long has it been since the Bills have been relevant? One could argue the last relevant moment in Bills football...

Does It Really Matter Who Starts At QB Week One?

When the Buffalo Bills selected Florida State quarterback E.J. Manuel with the No. 16 overall pick in the 2013 NFL draft, fans immediately jumped to the conclusion that the 23-year old would start on opening day against the New England Patriots. But does it really matter? Over the past two years, we as football fans have been spoiled with the successes of first round signal callers...
