Found September 19, 2013 on FF Locker Room:
The 2013 NFL season could be renamed the year of the injury with as many star players missing a good chunk of time due to serious health issues. Players like Rob Gronkowski who are key to their teams success just can’t seem to catch any luck and keeps rebreaking his arm. While the game of football can be tough and rough, there is nothing that players can really do to prevent this type of injury. But this past week when you see Ray Rice, Maurice Jones-Drew, Vick Ballard and more go down, it starts to show some cause for concern. While the NFL is a melting pot of superior athletes, proper training such as using beta-alanine would help develop muscle mass, but endurance as well.  On one of my fantasy football teams I have wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald, and all three running backs; Reggie Bush, Jones-Drew and Rice. Now for a fantasy owner, this is a nightmare. But truth be told, while all of these injuries couldn’t had been prevented, some I am sure could have. With today’s NFL players...

Ravens’ Ray Rice day-to-day with strained left hip flexor

Baltimore Ravens running back, Ray Rice, suffered a strained left hip flexor Sunday during the fourth quarter of the Ravens’ victory over the Cleveland Browns.  As Dan Hanzus of tells us, the Ravens are extremely optimistic about his possible return. Rice is a big part of the Ravens’ offense and losing him for any length of time would put the black birds’ offense...

Fantasy football: Week 3 news and notes

It’s week 3, and I’m already scared to death about the outlook of my fantasy football team’s future. Questions surround my Arian Foster-led fantasy squad as it makes its way into its week 3 matchup, looking to improve upon its current 1-1 record. Will Foster continue to lose touches as his backup, Ben Tate, continues to progress? Is Marques Colston going to start producing...

Ravens RB Rice doubtful for game against Texans

Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game against the Houston Texans. The Pro Bowler, who strained his left hip flexor during a win over the Cleveland Browns last week, missed his third consecutive day of practice Friday. If Rice doesn't play, Baltimore will turn to second-year running back Bernard Pierce. Pierce rushed for 532 yards...

Ray Rice Not Practicing Wednesday

Baltimore running back Ray Rice, who is dealing with a strained hip flexor, missed Wednesday's practice.Fantasy Spin:The Ravens are lucky the injury wasn't more serious, but Rice's health is still a big question mark. Bernard Pierce will start if Rice can't and even if Rice plays will likely get a bigger share of the rushing attempts.

Ravens' Ray Rice misses practice

During Monday's press conference, Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said that he expected running back Ray Rice to take Wednesday's practice session off as he recovers from the hip injury that caused him to exit Sunday's contest against the Cleveland Browns. That proved to be true, as Rice was one of several Ravens' players to miss practice yesterday.RB...

Jaguars' hopeful Maurice Jones-Drew will play this week

Maurice Jones-Drew suffered an ankle sprain in the Jacksonville Jaguars' 19-9 loss to the Oakland Raiders on Sunday. The injury appeared more serious in the game as Jones-Drew limped off the field and headed to the locker room. The good news is MJD's x-rays came up negative and the veteran back could return soon, according to ESPN's Michael DiRocco.Gus Bradley says MJD...

Ray Rice Will Be A Game-Time Decision In Week 3

Baltimore Ravens HC John Harbaugh told reporters on Friday that RB Ray Rice will be a game-time decision. Rice has been listed as questionable throughout the week following a hip injury he suffered against the Browns last weekend. The Ravens have already hinted that Bernard Pierce could handle the ground game against the Texans should Rice be unable to suit up. I could see Baltimore...

Sawbones Scribings Week 3: Is Ray Rice Cooked?

Instead of diving in with the usual pizzazz, I want to step back and take a look at something that happened last week. Baltimore running back Ray Rice was held to 36 yards on 13 carries before leaving with a strained left hip flexor. And then fantasy football showed its dark side. While we can’t see what was sent to him on his timeline (@RayRice27), it’s safe to say there were...

Ray Rice Downgraded To Doubtful

Baltimore running back Ray Rice (hip) has been downgraded to doubtful for Sunday's game against the Texans.Fantasy Spin:Bernard Pierce is firmly in the RB1 conversation this week and is a must-start.

Jaguars “Optimistic” That RB Maurice Jones-Drew Will Play In Week 3

According to the Florida Times Union, the Jaguars are ”optimistic” that RB Maurice Jones-Drew will be able to suit for Sunday’s game against the Seahawks. HC Gus Bradley told reporters on Monday that Jones-Drew suffered a tendon strain during Sunday’s loss to the Raiders. “We feel like he’s got a chance to be back on Sunday,” Bradley said. Bradley mentioned that...

Maurice Jones-Drew Will Test His Ankle On Game Day

Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew will test his ankle a few hours before Sunday's kickoff. SOURCE: Ryan O'Halloran, Jacksonville.comFantasy Spin:MJD will basically be a game-time decision, but the decision for fantasy owners is an easy one. With a matchup at Seattle on the schedule, Jones-Drew should be avoided, injured or not.

Forget Tebow, sign T-Mac!

While most continue to focus on what is happening in Cleveland and make their jokes (not us), we really need to focus more on the real laughingstock of the NFL, the Jacksonville Jaguars. They are so bad, that oft-injured and…Read more →
