Found November 15, 2013 on Black and Gold Forever:
LaMarr Woodley left the Buffalo game last week with a calf injury and missed practice all week. He recently said he was optimistic about a return this Sunday against his hometown team (LaMarr is from Saginaw, MI played ball at the University of Michigan). But he remains questionable. Not that LaMarr has been too amazing this season--which we can say about the entire defense. But he has 5 sacks, which is already more than last year's total of 4. He's on pace to match his career-high in tackles as well (62, he has 33 so far a little over halfway through the year). The Steelers will have their hands full with Detroit's 3rd ranked passing offense. With Woodley out, they will go with Jarvis Jones and Jason Worilds on the outside. Meaning only Lawrence Timmons has started a full season of games in the entire linebacker corps. Jarvis Jones had his production slide after he was named starter in week 2. He was taken out in favor of Worilds a couple weeks ago. Last week, Jones had his first career sack in relief of Woodley. We expect a more challenging test this week against the high-powered Detroit offense. We feel pretty good with Jones and Worilds in there if LaMarr can't go. Got to keep the faith in the defense now that we're 10 games into the season. Go Steelers.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have now submitted their final injury report for the week as they prepare to take on the Detroit Lions Sunday at Heinz Field and it looks like they could possibly be without the services of at least two key starters. Not practicing for a third straight day were linebacker LaMarr Woodley (calf), defensive end Brett Keisel (foot) and guard Ramon Foster (ankle...

Mike Adams now playing tight end for the Steelers

Even though the Pittsburgh Steelers drafted Mike Adams to play left tackle,  they’ve been using him as a tight end. Adams was benched as the Steelers left tackle back in week four when he gave up three sacks against Jared Allen.  Now he seems to be catching on at a new position. “I think that’s a testament to him and his mental toughness to overcome some negativity,...

Ben Roethlisberger doesn’t want to be “killed” by Lions’ tandem at defense tackle

Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is known for holding onto footballs too long and not giving up on plays. Nonetheless, he realizes that he can’t do that very often against the Lions’ Ndamukong Suh and Nick Fairley. Well, yeah, I mean, you’ve got to be careful,” Roethlisberger said. “You’ll end up dead if you’re not careful.” Need NFL Tickets? Loading...

Steelers won't trade Big Ben in 2014 without a QB replacement

For all of this week's speculation surrounding Ben Roethlisberger's future, the key question remains: Is there fire behind all of this smoke with the Pittsburgh Steelers? After speaking with a Steelers source, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported on Friday's edition of NFL Network's "Around the League Live" that the organization will not consider an...

Steelers Say They Won’t Be Bullied By Lions

The Pittsburgh Steelers have gotten so far away from their identity that they are now worried about another team bullying them on the field. Receiver Sanders: Steelers will not be bullied by Lions

Massive fines and penalties, an intimidation factor, a reputation for nastiness. Not surprisingly, they are becoming known — wrongly or not — as the NFL's dirtiest defense. A few years ago, it was the Steelers. Now it's the Lions. The Steelers (3-6) meet the league's new bullies Sunday, and wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders said it's imperative they stand up to...

Pittsburgh Steelers: 2013 Week 11 NFL Power Rankings (#24)

Last week: 24 (+0) Record: 3-6 Dick LeBeau is now 19-2 against rookie quarterbacks in his career after befuddling EJ Manuel and the Bills last week, in a 23-10 loss that wasn’t even as close as that (Buffalo’s touchdown was in garbage time). Manuel completed 22 of 39 for 155 yards, 1 touchdown, and 1 interception in the loss. The Steelers are only 2 games out of a wild card,...
