It was just a practice in helmet, shorts and jersey, but to Zach Mettenberger, the start of Titans rookie minicamp on Friday was a big deal.
It was the quarterback's first time on the field with teammates since suffering a torn left anterior cruciate ligament back last November while at LSU.
"It was great," Mettenberger said. "The Pro Day workout … that's not football, that's to look good for the media and coaches. To be out there grinding and playing, that was a lot of fun. It was great to be back out there."
Mettenbeger, selected in the sixth round of the NFL Draft last weekend, got off to a good start, although he was far from perfect.
"On the first play of practice, Zach threw one deep and we caught it," coach Ken Whisenhunt said. "So that is what you like to see out of your quarterback. … He handled himself well today. He was in command in the huddle; you can tell he's done this. It wasn't too big for him."
