Matt Prater: I haven't had a drink in six weeks

The Detroit Lions organization found itself in a dire situation after the team had no choice but to cut Alex Henery after the kicker missed all three field goal attempts in Detroit’s 17-14 loss to the Buffalo Bills last Sunday. It left the team this week scrambling to find a replacement for Henery, who the team signed just two weeks prior after cutting rookie Nate Freese, meaning...

Detroit Lions: What went wrong in the loss to the Bills

The Detroit Lions lost 17-14 to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, in what can only be described as an embarrassing defeat. In a game where Alex Henery missed all three of his field goal tries, the Bills’ Dan Carpenter provided a fitting knockout blow by drilling the game-winning 58-yarder right down the middle with four seconds remaining. Despite leading 14-3 with only 16 minutes and...

The Detroit Lions announced that they have waived K Alex Henery on Monday. The #Lions have released Alex Henery, Jim Caldwell announced. — Detroit Lions (@Lions) October 6, 2014 This should come as no surprise given that Henery missed three field goals in Sunday’s Week 5 loss to the Bills. Eagles Cut K Alex Henery, Waive/Injured RB Kenjon Barner

The Philadelphia Eagles officially announced 19 roster cuts on Saturday and two of the more notable names among this group include K Alex Henery and RB Kenjon Barner. Philadelphia Eagles kicker Alex Henery ranked 2nd best in NFL…

… In fantasy that is, but maybe in real life as well. With a week of preseason games now in the books, the 2014 NFL season is officially underway. And that can only mean one thing: Fantasy football drafts are about to start happening. In order to get a jump on the competition, it’s never to early to start putting together a draft board. Kicking Alex Henery: who to blame for Eagles playoff loss?

When things go wrong in the NFL playoffs it’s only natural to try to pin the blame on somebody. For example, let’s say that the Eagles lose a playoff game by two points. During that game their kicker missed a field goal. Field goals are worth three points. Simple math indicates that if only the stupid kicker had done his job the Eagles would have advanced, right? Wrong. Of course...

Don’t expect Carey Spear (Murderleg) to take Alex Henery’s spot

The 2013 season ended with a tough playoff loss for the Philadelphia Eagles, but the franchise entered the offseason with a largely optimistic outlook both within the organization and amongst its fanbase. But one player who saw the tide turn against him in 2013 was kicker Alex Henery. Special teams became an issue for the team, and was largely responsible for the team’s loss to...

Alex henery will be okay as Eagles kicker in 2014...

I'm not exactly going out on a limb here, but I think Alex Henery will be better and stronger as a placekicker/kickoff guy in 2014. A little bit of natural aging, a concomitant increase in body mass, and a rigorous strength-conditioning program in the offseason should do the trick. A lot of Eagles fans are calling for Henery to be cut....I say "No"... he is a special talent...

Mailbag: Henery’s future, free agency and Bill Davis

Thank you to everyone who sent us questions this week via e-mail. We appreciate the involvement as we wind down towards the end of the NFL season. They’re going to cut Alex Henery, right? – Dale from Sellersville I wouldn’t say they’ll cut him, but I fully expect them to bring in some competition. Henery’s stats aren’t all that bad, it’s just his misses stand out a...
