Personnel decisions, turnovers cost Jets game vs. Bears; Message for Jet fans

Before discussing the turnovers, let’s take a look into the personnel decisions that John Idzik made in the off-season, and the substitutions that Rex Ryan made during the game on Monday Night. The poor choices in which Jets GM John Idzik made, regarding the cornerback position, have been well-documented. We know that he put his trust in the wrong person (Dimitri Patterson), and...

Phillip Adams, seemingly benched, left Jets-Patriots with groin injury; Bilal Powell (foot) is OK

Jets coach Rex Ryan clarified in his Friday conference call with reporters that he did not bench cornerback Phillip Adams entirely for performance reasons in Thursday’s 27-25 loss at the Patriots. Adams headed to the bench late in the first half and did not return. He played 20 of the Jets’ 57 defensive snaps. Adams, a career backup, started the game opposite another career...

He was with the Seahawks at the end of the 2011 season and throughout the exhibition season in 2012.

Seahawks sign new Legion of Boomer from Raiders

Free agency 2014 has not been kind to the Seattle Seahawks defense. Their front line has seen three key pieces leave for different teams in Florida and the secondary has lost Brandon Browner to the Patriots and Walter Thurmond to the Giants. Both cornerbacks were suspended several games due to drug related issues in 2013 and their new deals were of the short-term, prove-yourself...

Phillip Adams' Release Could Be Positive Sign for Health of Patrick Chung, Devin McCourty

The Patriots released cornerback Phillip Adams on Tuesday, and the roster transaction could mean any number of things. Adams played primarily in the slot in nickel and dime packages, though he received some work on the outside at times this season, most notably when Antwaun Molden was benched in the second half against the Steelers. The decision to release Adams was relatively surprising...

Pats release Adams

By Tim BrittonThe Patriots surprisingly released cornerback Phillip Adams on Tuesday. This is the third time this season Adams has been released by New England, after initially hooking up with the Patriots in late September. But with injuries depleting the secondary, the 23-year-old second-year player had seen substantial playing time of late, especially in nickel packages. Wide...

Source: Patriots release CB Phillip Adams in a shakeup of the secondary

The Patriots have gotten contributions from a whole bunch of random faces in the secondary, with slot corner Phillip Adams helping as much as anyone. Now, the Patriots will need to rely on some other no-names, rather than Adams, the former 2010 seventh rounder. I’m told the Patriots are releasing the former 49ers castoff, though the reason is not clear. Adams has played well, and...
