ROMEO CRENNEL RUMORS

Digging Deep: Finding Out More About RAC

It is not often when an organization goes from one of the most respected minds in the NFL defensively in Wade Phillips to another in Romeo Crennel is less than a year. That is exactly what the Houston Texans are doing for the 2014 season, and it gives new Head Coach Bill O’Brien an experienced coach to help his transition to the NFL. With Crennel coming to Houston there has been...

Texans Free Agency: Weight Gain (Day 8)

The Houston Texans have finally made a slight noise in free agency with the signing of one of Romeo Crennel’s players from Kansas City. The signing is an interesting one especially when it shows the Texans are trying to add bigger players to the defensive line for Crennel’s two gap scheme.   - The Texans made a little movement today when they signed free agent defensive lineman Jerrell...

Texans Sign Nose Tackle Jerrell Powe

The Houston Texans have reportedly signed nose tackle Jerrell Powe, the team announced Tuesday. Terms of the contract were not disclosed, though we can expect this is a short-term, low-cost investment. Powe, 27, has appeared in just 12 games in three seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs, but spent his first two years in the league under Texans defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel in...

Will Romeo Crennel’s Defensive scheme hinder JJ Watt?

Romeo Crennel in his two head coaching stints, one with the Cleveland Browns and the other with the Kansas City Chiefs, did not enjoy much success.  He is however a well-established defensive coordinator, and has 5 super bowl rings, one as special teams coach, one as defensive line coach and three as a defensive coordinator The only problem I see with Crennel as the Texans defensive...

According to FOXSports.com’s Alex Marvez, the Houston Texans will turn to another former New England assistant to serve as his defensive coordinator: Romeo Crennel. Details emerging: Javon Belcher may have killed self in front of Romeo Crennel and Scott Pioli

We now know  the name of the Kansas City Chiefs player who killed his girlfiend and then himself, as his family must have been notified. LB Jovan Belcher apparently killed his girlfriend at an area home, then drove to the Chiefs practice facility, where he shot and killed himself. If reports are true, he may have committed suicide right in front of the head coach and GM.

First-year coaches on the hot seat

Usually first-year head coaches are exempt from the proverbial hot seat, but this season has been anything but predictable, and it has a pair of first-year head coaches beginning to look like dead men walking. Romeo Crennel and Mike Mularkey aren't on their first head coaching jobs. Crennel led the Browns for four years from 2005 through 2008. Mularkey held the top job in Buffalo...
