We continue our series looking at how Carolina Panthers’ rookies from 2013 performed and what we should expect looking forward. Last week, it was first round defensive tackle Star Lotulelei. 2013 stats: 16 starts, 3 sacks, 48 tackles, 11 pressures
2013 Review: Star Lotulelei had a very solid rookie year, exactly what you want out of a player at his position and experience. His numbers don’t do enough justice to his rookie year. He ranked 7th on the Carolina Panthers in tackles and was a huge part of the teams terrific run defense. Most impressively, you expect a rookie...
Considered one of the best prospects in the 2013 draft class by most, Star Lotulelei fell on draft day unexpectedly. Round 1: No. 14 Star Lotulelei, DT, Utah
Review: The Panthers have an illness to thank for this home-run pick.
Lotulelei acquired an undisclosed virus before the NFL Combine that caused an irregular heart test, for which he was later cleared, that allowed him to fall here. With Sharrif Floyd, Kenny Vaccaro and Eric Reid still on the board, general manager Dave Gettleman could...

After a year of moving heavy furniture into cabins in Utah, Star Lotulelei realized the working man's 9-to-5 life simply wasn't for him.
Lotulelei knew right then he needed to make his NFL dream happen - no matter what the cost.
And he did just that.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Panthers general manager Dave Gettleman has been to six Super Bowls during his 25-plus years in the NFL and is convinced the only way to reach that summit is to assemble a great defensive line rotation.
So it came as no surprise that Gettleman got one of the "hog mollies" -- his term of endearment for big linemen -- he so coveted entering the NFL draft...
