For Dallas, there might not be a better time to play the Colorado Avalanche. The Avs have been riddled with injuries lately as captain Gabriel Landeskog has a head injury (possibly a concussion) and Steve Downie went down with a year-ending ACL injury. Last season’s point leader Ryan O’Reilly continues to hold out and David Jones has a nagging knee issue (though he could play tonight).
Despite those injuries, the Avs have managed to win their last games and put up some of their highest goal totals of the season. Paul Stastny and P.A Parenteau have raised their games and carried the team in the absence of the other offensive leaders.
Dallas has to especially watch out for Matt Duchene though. He’s been a killer against the Stars the past few seasons a...
BEST OF MAXIM
Only three minutes into the Dallas Stars-Colorado Avalanche game on Monday night, this scary moment happened. Dallas defenseman Jamie Oleksiak took a slapshot and it was deflected by Colorado forward Paul Stastny’s skate. Referee Chris Rooney never saw the puck coming and didn’t even have a chance to react to the puck headed straight for his head. The A.P. reported:The puck...
Hockey referees are arguably the best in all of sports, and they’re also some of the bravest.
The men in the striped shirts step out on the ice every night, sharing the ice with some of the biggest, fastest athletes the sports world has to offer. It goes without saying that some times there’s nowhere to hide for officials.
Referee Chris Rooney found that out the hard way Monday...
A scary moment occurred during the Dallas Stars-Colorado Avalanche game on Monday night, when veteran NHL referee Chris Rooney was down and out on the ice after an odd carom off a slapshot resulted in the puck drilling him in the head. A few minutes into the first period, a shot from the point by hulking Stars defenseman Jamie Oleksiak deflected off Avalanche player Paul Stastny’s...
Dallas Stars 3 - Colorado Avalanche 2
It wasn't the prettiest or most convincing of wins, but the Stars were able to get it done last night. Jamie Benn carried the team with his two goals and Kari Lehtonen was just good enough as Dallas put Friday's ugly effort behind them.
The obvious one here would be Jamie Benn. His first goal was...
Dallas Stars center Derek Roy, who has missed the last five games with a groin injury, is expected to return to the lineup for Monday's game against the Colorado Avalanche, the Dallas Morning News reported Sunday. Roy, 29, participated in drills during the team's skate on Sunday. He has hasn't played since Jan. 24, the same day the signing of Jamie Benn was announced...
Jamie Benn scored his first two goals of the season, and the Dallas Stars beat Colorado 3-2 on Monday, spoiling the night for Milan Hejduk as the Avalanche forward was honored for playing in his 1,000th NHL game.
Brenden Morrow also scored, and Kari Lehtonen made 29 saves for Dallas.
Hejduk had a goal, as he did in his first career game, and P.A. Parenteau added another in the...
In an effort to make sure you are reading enough about the Dallas Stars and the NHL, I plan on henceforth to offer my "bag of pucks" to you on a weekly basis throughout the season. This will be a series of thoughts and opinions and stuff off youtube that might enhance your hockey experience. Enjoy.
IMPERFECT ATTENDANCE FROM TOP 6
Certainly, the start of the Stars season...
DENVER -- Jamie Benn had two goals and an assist, Brenden Morrow also scored, and the Dallas Stars beat the Colorado Avalanche 3-2 Monday night. Kari Lehtonen made 29 saves for the Stars (4-5-1), who won for just the second time in their past seven games. The majority of game was played with one referee after official Chris Rooney was hurt 3:12 into the first period. A shot by...
