Things have not been great for the Oilers this month. Edmonton has only won three out of 11 games in February and has seen their offense sputter throughout the month.
The Oilers have scored three or more goals only twice this month (not coincidently winning each time) and has seen the defense give up at least three goals in eight of the 11 games. A young team that was supposed to be exciting hasn’t quite come to fruition.
Nikolai Khabibulin has started three of the past four games for the Oilers but that’s not going to be the case tonight. He’s on the IR now with some kind of lower body injury so that means Devan Dubnyk in net tonight.
Dubnyk has started only two games since Edmonton last played Dallas and things haven’t gon...

Jamie Benn ejected for crosschecking Ryan Jones (Video)
Dallas Stars left winger Jamie Benn was ejected from Thursday night's game for crosschecking Edmonton Oilers for crosschecking Edmonton Oilers forward Ryan Jones.
It was a real cheap shot as there were only 4 minutes left in the third period and the Oilers had a 5-1 lead. Benn apparently took exception as he watched from the bench as Jones got tangled up with Stars goalie...

Trading Ryder makes good business sense
In the early stages of Tuesday's game at Columbus, the Dallas Stars sent out a press release saying that veteran winger Michael Ryder had been traded to Montreal with a second-round pick in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft in exchange for fellow experienced forward Erik Cole.
At least initially, hearing news of the trade of the man who now formerly wore No. 73 for the Stars in Ryder...

Ryan Whitney Continues to Grow Moss
It’s a different defenceman, but the same story. The Edmonton Oilers, who can’t really afford to run veteran top 4 defencemen out of town seem to be doing just that. Sheldon Souray was the most recent defenceman to have a public dispute with the team, was then subsequently sent to the AHL. Could the same thing happen with Ryan Whitney? Bill Meltzer: Star Gazing: Winning Ugly, Ryder Trade
Considering the Dallas Stars' ongoing problem with the second half of back-to-back games, any win is welcomed in such situations. Last night's 5-4 overtime win in Columbus was a slopfest of a hockey game, but it ended up with the Stars leaving with two points.
The Stars are now 1-4-0 this season in the second half of back-to-backs, and 2-15-2 over the last two seasons...
