The Boston Bruins have a real chance of winning the Stanley Cup from the Eastern Conference (via thegoalieguy)
For the past four or five years, the Boston Bruins have been one of the beasts of the east. This crop of “beasts” is much thinner this year than in years past. Only the Bruins and Pittsburgh Penguins have shown that they are legit Stanley Cup contenders. Both lead their divisions by at least 13 points, and are showing no signs of giving up that lead. Right now, the Bruins next closest competitor is the Toronto Maple Leafs, who they ousted from the playoffs last year in seven games. The Bruins are a well balanced team, and boast one of the best scoring differentials in the league. Here are five reasons why the Bruins will win the Stanley Cup.
1. Been there done that
The Bruins have been a consistent contender for the past four years, reaching the Eastern Conference Finals in three of those four years, the Stanley Cup Finals in two of those years, and even raising the cup in...
BEST OF MAXIM
BOSTON — Bruins defenseman Dougie Hamilton is in an odd position for a player of his age, skill level and draft position. That’s made for some bumps along the road in his first two seasons as a pro.
Hamilton came to Boston as a top-10 draft pick after the B’s took him ninth overall in the 2012 NHL entry draft. In most cases, a top-10 pick like that is going to a bad team and...
WILMINGTON, Mass. — Boston Bruins defenseman Torey Krug found himself in an unfamiliar position on Thursday night. The rookie blueliner, who burst onto the scene during last year’s playoffs, was listed as a healthy scratch for the first time in his career.
Seated in a suit high above the ice in the TD Garden Level 9 press box, Krug sat and watched as his team beat the Phoenix...
Milan Lucic’s 21st goal of the season was a thing of beauty.
During the first period of Saturday afternoon’s game against the Carolina Hurricanes, the Bruins created some offense out of defense. Lucic charged down the ice before dishing the puck to David Krejci in the slot. Krejci got tripped up, but he still managed to deliver a perfect pass as he was falling to the ice to Lucic...
BOSTON — It’s quite fitting that Boston Bruins head coach Claude Julien won his 300th game as the team’s head coach on Thursday night. The 2-1 victory over the Phoenix Coyotes pushed the team’s winning streak to seven in the midst of the Bruins’ most consistent stretch of the season.
The Bruins have been, if nothing else, a model of consistency under Julien. He has the...
The Boston Bruins defeated the Phoenix Coyotes 2-1 in Thursday night’s game at TD Garden to give Claude Julien his 300th career win with the Original Six franchise.
Julien joined the Bruins prior to the 2007-08 season, and he’s the second-longest tenured head coach in the Eastern Conference behind Detroit Red Wings bench boss Mike Babcock. Boston has won 40 or more games in five...
BOSTON — Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask gets paid a lot of money to play goalie in the NHL. Like, a real lot. Like, $56 million over the next eight years a lot. So far, he’s lived up to that lofty contract.
Rask turned in another stellar effort Thursday night as he stopped 21 of the 22 shots he faced — including all 11 in the third period — as the Bruins hung on for a 2-1 win...
WILMINGTON, Mass. — Boston Bruins forward Daniel Paille is feeling good, but he hasn’t been cleared just yet after recently suffering a minor concussion.
The Boston winger suffered the concussion during his first shift Sunday afternoon against the Florida Panthers. He took a big hit from Florida defenseman Ed Jovanvovski and hit his head on the ice as he fell. Paille still hasn’t...
Phoenix Coyotes forward Brandon McMillan ripped a shot on net that somehow got by Tuukka Rask. The Boston Bruins netminder showed off his fantastic awareness and managed to reach back and swipe this puck off the goal line. Truly a great save early in the game that set the tone for the night as the Bruins went on to win 2-1.
The post Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask makes phenomenal...
The Boston Bruins and Carolina Hurricanes have a history, dating back to when the Canes were the Hartford Whalers. Plenty of notable players have donned both the Spoked-B and the Storm Warning jerseys in their day but only one player has won a Stanley Cup in each uni.
Can you name the player who has won a Cup with both the B’s and Canes?

In the last few days Patrice Bergeron of the Boston Bruins has taken over the NHL +/- lead. He is posting a +32, which is one point ahead of his nearest competitor. Bergeron is having a strong defensive season. He is my Selke Trophy leader at this point.
The amazing thing about Bergeron plays a tough defensive role. He plays against the toughest opposition that Boston faces...
Eight is certainly great. The Bruins blew by the Carolina Hurricanes 5-1 at the Garden for their eighth straight win with goals from Jarome Iginla (2), Milan Lucic, Chris Kelly, and Torey Krug.Backup Chad Johnson turned aside 29 shots to pick up his 14th win of the season. The Bruins controlled the play for the entirety of the game, and save for a brief moment of push-back from Carolina...
The Bruins knew they’d be pushed in the second half of a back-to-back situation Thursday night after an emotional game in Montreal. They were 100 percent correct.
It wasn’t easy and featured one of the ugliest second periods of the season from both teams, but the B’s took home a 2-1 victory over the Phoenix Coyotes at TD Garden on the strength of a pair of first period goals...
The Bruins will play matinee hockey today with a new face in their lineup and an old friend on the Carolina Hurricanes, Anton Khudobin, though he may just be on the bench. The Bruins have a seven game win streak going and look to make it eight today. The Canes are 7th in the Metro Division with a 29-28-9 but are coming off of two strait wins. Alexander Semin has points in six strait...
Boston, MA – Jarome Iginla scored his team leading 22nd and 23rd goals of the season to pace the Boston Bruins as they cruised to a 5-1 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes this afternoon at the TD Garden. The win, which completed the season sweep for Boston over the Canes, was also the black and gold’s eighth consecutive victory since dropping their first two games after the...
With forward Daniel Paille potentially missing tomorrow afternoon's matchup against the Carolina Hurricanes, the Boston Bruins on Friday recalled forward Matt Lindblad from the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League. Lindblad, who is in his first full professional season has produced 22 points (7 goals 15 assists) in 43 games for Providence after being signed out of...
