Despite the media focus regarding the team's H1N1 vaccination, the Flames appear to be enjoying the start of November. Dion Phaneuf scored halfway through overtime to give the Calgary Flames their second overtime road win in two nights. The Flames lead for most of the game after Jarome Iginla scored early in the first period. Iginla broke in on a breakaway and shot the puck between St. Louis Blues goalie Chris Mason's pads. The puck initially didn't cross the goal line, but Blues defenceman Eric Brewer came back and knocked the puck into his own net while trying to clear it out of the goal mouth. Both teams had chances throughout the game but the score remained 1-0 until 20 year old Blues rookie Lars Eller deflected a point shot past Miikka Kiprusoff in the 3rd period. It was his first NHL goal in his first NHL game and he scored it with his elbow. Calgary tightened up their defence a bit tonight but still allowed too many shots on goal.
