Jeff Carter Hit With Beer Bottle During Post-Game Interview
TEAMS: Philadelphia Flyers,  Washington Capitals
PLAYERS: Jeff Carter,  Joffrey Lupul
I'm sure not all of the Washington Capitals fans are classless idiots. But each and every team has their fair share. A handful of Canadien fans last night showed that even our friendly neighbors from the north have a few that get out of hand after they themselves have had a few. And in DC tonight following Joffrey Lupul's series winning overtime goal the hometown fans were somewhat discontent. Looking to channel this discontent into something positive, they littered their home ice with trash and beer bottles. Apparently they aren't big Earth Day fans. During a post-game interview Philadelphia Flyer Jeff Carter became the target of one of these upright citizens. I'm sure someone else will get a decent copy of the video up, but for now all I've got for you is this. A masterpiece shot from my Treo camcorder and uploaded to the very sketchy Blogger video. [edit: youtube is much better] - video - Often I say no one hates the Flyers more than myself. I've personally sat in the Wachovia Center and received the verbal barbs of the Philadelphia faithful. But it guess it's apparent that while no one wants to see the Flyers lose as much as myself, there are plenty of idiots out there that harbor ill will that I simply can't match. Everything being said, and assuming that this guy was at least somewhat sauced, you have to admit it's a pretty impressive shot. If the Wizards could shoot like that they probably wouldn't get bounced from the first round of the playoffs as well.

    Drunk fans act like a-holes from every city from every sport!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    I'm sick and tired of people bashing the Phillyfaithful. I've sat in opposing teams stands and took a lot of heat! But I expected and accepted it due to the fact that I had the guts to wear my teams jersey in their stadium.Having said that...throwing objects and physical violence over a GAME is a joke.If fans can't behave we're gonna look at DRY stadiums. It's a shame for folks who can handle their booze!

    If this happened in Philadelphia after a Flyers loss, Philadelphia fans would have been crucified by the media. But it didn't, so you don't see a word of it. The players were celebrating the goal, and the trash was already raining down on them. Some classy people down there in DC.

      actually they mentioned it on PTI the other day (which is filmed in DC), but i dont think you should blame all caps fans, its probably just the bandwagon fans that came to "rock the red" when they heard the team was doin good. sad that a few dumbasses make the whole fan base look bad, but it happens all the time

    This is distasteful but as a philly fan we would of done the same thing...think about it.... they threw battiers at scott rolen, they throw flaming bags of fire in game 5 of the nba finals, I mean the 700 level in vet stadium where they asaulted fans of opposing teams constantly...I was at an eagles redskins game about 4 years back... and I seen them throw beer all over this 10-13 year old girl for having a skins jersey on...Not counting how about Santa...lol....

    Good thing a fight didn't spilling over into the fild of play at a phillies game didn't happen huh. If Hockey had a few refs with integrity philly has no clams. Its easy to gloat when you are always the giver. Glad don and gregg enjoyed their time.

      Typical Capitals fan whining about the officiating. The call in overtime was completely legit, it was a clear and obvious trip. The officials tried to let the teams play without making calls, but the Capitals kept pushing to see how far they could go before the refs made a call

    Everybody and their mother(besides a few of us Flyers faithful) thought that if that series made it to game 7, with all the Ovechkin talk and momentum swinging, that the Caps had a good chance of winning the series, the fans were so shocked after lupels goal they just started throwin whatever they could grab

    Let them throw whatever they want. We still won. I am tired of hearing about how the refs won the game for the Flyers and all that crapolo. If the Caps were better they would have beat us anyway.
    As an add on: My brother has a field trip to DC on Friday and most of his class is going to be sporting PHILADELPHIA FLYERS gear. It will be awesome!

    The NHL told them to start throwing stuff down to them because they wanted the Caps to win.
    No one wants Philadelphia in the playoffs! I thought of that too, that if they were in Philadelphia, and someone threw a bottle down at Ovechkin, then that would have been the new thing that they were going to talk about. "Batteries at Rolen, Booing Santa Clause, Cheering for Irvin when he was carted off the field" So now when we talk about Carter getting hit with a bottle, what will they talk about?? Those three things that I just mentioned. It's like arguing with a Dallas Cowboys fan, what to they do?? Constantly bring up the past..

    After Bettman tried to sabotage this series, and by the way the entire media covering besides the Philly area of course wanted the Caps to win. Why? Terrible hockey market they should be happy Philly is moving on. Lost a lot of respect for Ovechkin this series with all the diving and what not, it's a shame I use to like that he didn't act like Sidney Crosby and when it came down to it he turned into him too.

    And yes if this little bottle throwing incident had happened in Philly you would never hear the end of it. And it wouldn't be charaterized as "one idiot fan" ALL Philly fans would be "responsible."

    Its funny you see espn,yahoo sports, and every one says we will lose in 5..But they didn't play much better then us..They had 104 pts..we had 95 pts... I think we will be fine and I would rather play Montrel who stuggled against Boston rather then play pitt.
