Two things are not known right now about this Friday night's Sabres vs. Islanders tilt at HSBC Arena:
1). Thomas Vanek may or may not play in the game.
HDTV suffered an upper body injury in the second period of Buffalo's 6-2 whomping of the Red Wings. Lindy Ruff's postgame prognostication was that Vanek would miss "weeks". That all changed on Thursday...

Drew Stafford started the scoring on the power play, burring a rebound shot to give Buffalo a 1-0 lead. Detroit came right back on the power play with Valtteri Filppula tipping one past Ryan Miller to make it 1-1 game after one period.
