Found November 01, 2011 on Kukla's Korner:
That is exactly what the New York Rangers gave last night in their 5-2 win over the San Jose Sharks at Madison Square Garden. For the first time on home ice this season, there was no third period let down, something the team struggled with in their losses to the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Ottawa Senators. Instead, the team’s hard-work and effort lasted the whole game as the the team picked up its first win on the Garden ice in this somewhat young season. Team captain Ryan Callahan is starting to show his scoring touch as he picked up another two goals last night, giving him five on the season. He is also showing a knack for going hard to the net and being in the right place at the right time, something the team will need from him throughout the rest of the season. The team also got strong games from Brandon Dubinsky (2 assists), Erik Christensen (2 assists), Dan Girardi (2 assists), and back-up netminder Martin Biron (24 saves), who improved his record to 2-0. It was easily the ...

Avery On Fourth Line Rotation; Appears To Be Healthy Scratch

Following the New York Rangers dominating 5-2 win over the San Jose Sharks on Monday night, a game in which every player on the roster had a strong game, the focus shifted to the newly recalled Sean Avery, and where he would fit in the lineup after such a strong showing. The likely candidates to sit were the usual ones: Wojtek Wolski and Erik Christensen, both of whom have been in...

No Avery Tomorrow vs. Ducks

As I anticipated, head coach John Tortorella has confirmed that he will be going with the same lineup tomorrow versus the Ducks as he did on Monday against the San Jose Sharks. That means Sean Avery, who practiced with the team for the first time today, will not suit up.  Avery told the Daily News that he completely understands why he will not be in the lineup, and agrees with...

Still No News on Staal

Steve Zipay tweets that today a Rangers spokesperson said there is no update on Marc Staal's condition.Meanwhile, Jay Leonard at the Daily News says the fact that John Tortorella did not mention Staal's name once during his public comments on Tim Erixon's assignment and Michael Del Zotto's hip ailment (he'll play tonight) yesterday speaks volumes that more than...

NHL roundup: Sean Avery unclaimed, stays with Rangers

Sean Avery cleared re-entry waivers on Tuesday and might be back in the New York Rangers' lineup Thursday night.

Awesome: Rangers John Tortorella Isn’t Feeling Sharks Joe Thornton

New York Rangers coach John Tortorella didn’t take kindly to San Jose Sharks captain Joe Thornton calling his team “soft” following New York’s 5-2 victory over San Jose on Monday night. “It surprised me, and I’ve never heard a player say that,” Tortorella told reporters after Tuesday’s practice, according to the New York Daily News. “Joe’s a heck of a player...

A letter from Sean Avery

Dear internet ********, Guess who’s back? Avery’s back. Tell a friend.    I guess you needed me after all, didn’t you, Torts? I know Tortorella hates it when I call him Torts, so I’mma keep doing it.  You sent me down to the whale? IN HARTFORD?  You guys know how I feel about whales.  You know I have a strict “no fatties” rule. But it’s good...

Sean Avery could rejoin the New York Rangers a lot sooner than expected after being placed on re-entry waivers by the team that has missed his grit early this season.

A Vigororous Re-Torts From New York

Sharks center "Jumbo" Joe Thornton has never been considered one of the NHL’s Bravehearts. A player his size should dominant play night after night . . . yet he plays a fairly passive game in most gamesSo this salvo at the Rangers after a 5-2 San Jose loss at New York seemed a bit out of place: “They were probably the softest team we played on the trip. We should have...

The odyssey of Sean Avery continued on Tuesday, as the controversial forward cleared re-entry waivers and was recalled to the New York Rangers from their AHL affiliate in Connecticut.

Ryan leads the way past San Jose

The Rangers gave themselves a blueprint for how to hold a lead in their first home victory of the young season: Get everyone involved. Four Blueshirts registered at least two points, led by captain Ryan Callahan (two goals, one assist), as the Rangers (4-3-3) snapped a two-game skid with a 5-2 win over San Jose (6-4-0) at the Garden. In the process, they ended a five-game winning...

Just one game on the Tuesday night schedule for either New York Rangers or New York Islander prospects but it is a big one. Kirill Kabanov's Shawinigan Cataractes will be hosting the Quebec Remparts.
