Hmm... it's been almost a month. I suppose I should write something about this team.Overall, the Canes are 5-6-3 with 13 points - enough to gain them 11th in the Eastern Conference and 4th in the Southeast. This is slightly worse than last year around this time, where the Canes were 7-7-0 and 10th in the East. Oh boy.I haven't been keeping up with the team as much as normal... but what I've been able to listen to and read about on the internet does not give me warm and fuzzy feelings. Klein of the New York Times, Eric Staal, the Carolina Hurricanes’ captain and a winner of the Stanley Cup and an Olympic gold medal, is off to the worst start of his career, and one of the worst starts endured by any N.H.L. player this season. But he is sure that guilt is not behind it. Staal, a center, is making his first trip to the New York metropolitan area...

Video: Eric Staal Talks About Marc’s Recovery

… even though he is saying it doesn’t bother him you know this is eating away at Eric Staal.

Fun with shooting percentages

Shooting percentages and PDO are things that I have been monitoring this year because there's a lot of Canes players who have fallen on some rotten luck this season (Eric Staal comes to mind) while others have been much more fortunate. I know saying a player has been "unlucky" is a lazy way to dismiss their shortcomings, but sometimes that's just what happens. Take...
