On a night where the only clean thing on the ice was the ice, the Avs skated away (maybe limped) with a controversial 3-2 victory over the Montreal Canadiens. In a game with sloppy defensive play, suspect officiating and a lot of big hits, the Avs managed to get enough lucky bounces to win on the Canadiens home opener.
