The newly demoted Chris Kreider notched Connecticut’s first goal of the game against Bridgeport last night, scoring on the powerplay. The goal was the first of five against the also-newly-demoted Rick DiPietro, and the first of seven total for the Whale. Kris Newbury, Brandon Mashinter, Brandon Segal, Mike Vernace, and Christian Thomas (2) also scored for the Whale. Cam Talbot made 35 saves in the 7-3 win.

Rick Nash had a goal and assist and also scored in the shootout to lead the New York Rangers to a 3-2 win over the Buffalo Sabres Sunday night.
Ryan Callahan also scored for New York in the shootout. Derek Stepan added a goal, and Henrik Lundqvist made 28 saves. New York has won two in a row.
