Well, gang - it's back to hockey. Today is the first day that the Red Wings can start proving that Kenny Holland was right NOT to sell the farm or trade away assets because this team is capable of winning the Cup without looking for outside help.Kenny was never a guy to make moves for the sake of making moves. I know we're all still pretty peeved at him for standing idly by while Nashville went out and got a coke fiend and a hulking 10 goals-a-season forward in addition to the USS Hal Gill. Maybe I'll be eating my words...but the pieces that Nashville added still doesn't have me shaking in my boots should we see them in a seven game series come this spring.A win would be nice tonight. We head on the road against the worst team in the league who has gotten even LESS dangerous after the deadline. But it's a win that we need.Make the jump for my explanation 'why'.
We need this win for morale. I'm sure the players' morale is just fine. Their ...

With Future Still Uncertain, Nash Speaks Out After Loss to Pens

For obvious reasons...

Although a lot trades were made in the NHL on Monday before the trade deadline, one player who didn't change teams was Columbus Blue Jackets captain Rick Nash despite persistent rumors that he would wind up elsewhere.

Nash stays put at NHL trading deadline; Predators, Canucks add pieces
The Nashville Predators and Vancouver Canucks added some reinforcements for a playoff run, while Rick Nash's wish for a deal didn't come to fruition.
WHO SKATED BY?
Quick breakdown of NHL trade deadline
The trade deadline this year was interesting largely because of what didn’t happen. About a month ago, I would have told you the three biggest name players who were likely to be moved were Rick Nash, Zach Parise and Ales Hemsky. None of them wound up being traded at all. As I have done in years past, I like to list the biggest short term and long term winners and losers. I will...
Out Of The Darkness Comes The Light

With the trade deadline less than 23 hours away... And with the chances extremely high that the team's only true home grown star in Rick...

Many felt heading in to Thursday’s NHL trade deadline that the New York Rangers were the front-runners to obtain Columbus Blue Jackets superstar Rick Nash. But after incessant reports of a mammoth asking price being desired by Blue Jackets GM, Scott Howson, the Rangers ultimately decided it was not in their best interests...
So who is John Scott?
After the Rick Nash deal fell through, the Rangers made a minor move in sending a fifth round pick in this year’s draft to Chicago for defenseman John Scott. The first thing someone will notice about Scott is that he is big, listed at 6’8 and 258 lbs, the dude is a big boy. The undrafted defenseman, who is also capable of playing left wing, played four years at Michigan Tech...
