Christopher Moorhouse lobbed a banana at Flyers forward Wayne Simmonds as he was approaching Red Wings goalie Jordan Pearce during a shoot-out Sept. 22 in London, Ontario.

The Detroit Red Wings received Monday off to say goodbye to their fathers after their 3-2 overtime win over the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday, but one Red Wing, Chris Conner, is instead saying goodbye to his parents in Westland and heading down to Grand Rapids for more playing time (as Jan Mursak’s about to come off the injured reserve list). Here’s the Griffins’ press release...
The Detroit Red Wings flew to Long Island on Monday afternoon to wrap up their (technically speaking) four-game road trip against the Islanders, who, via the Windsor Star’s Bob Duff and Newsday’s Arthur Staple, will probably start Kevin Poulin, not Evgeni Nabokov, against Detroit on Tuesday. Tomorrow’s game marks the Wings’ 42nd, and as DetroitRedWings.com’s Bill Roose...
Detroit Red Wings star forward Pavel Datsyuk will sit out Tuesday's game against the New York Islanders due to a lower-body injury.
Datsyuk, who is riding a four-game points streak, said he hopes to be back for Thursday's game.
He has been on a team since mid-November, amassing 11 goals and 22 assists in 22 games.
For the season, Datsyuk has 13 goals and 43 points in 41 games.
Bad night for Detroit sports last night. Nevermind the fact that the Lions actually had a chance of winning that game if their corners could catch a damn cold let alone a football. But the Detroit loss stings me more than the usual regular season loss. I bet it stings them too...I hope it does. The first 20 minutes of last night, Detroit made Toronto look like a Cup contender...
This Chicago Blackhawks fan, who probably owns stone washed jeans, does not like Detroit. What’s impressive is that he actually shelled out the money to make this custom jersey considering he is wearing an AT&T sponsored hat (which he probably got with his bundle). You stay classy Blackhawks fan!
Special thanks to Hulkamaniac Greg Hunter for spotting this gem.
The Detroit Red Wings had the excuses lined up before tonight’s 5-1 loss to the New York Islanders, whose pedigree is apparently greater than that of the playoff-bound Maple Leafs and Blackhawks because they can withstand Detroit’s attempts to rally from multiple-goal deficits without blinking an eyelash.
The Fathers’ Trip was over. The Wings were coming off the emotional...
Dear Gord, that was bizarre. The Detroit Red Wings’ 3-2 overtime win over the Chicago Blackhawks, if we are to believe the NBC Sports network, was the result of nothing more than multiple un-called penalties to Tomas Holmstrom on the 2-1 goal, a penalty shot that may or may not have been a puck in the net by Chicago as Holmstrom was, bafflingly, the the last man back among Jonathan...
The Detroit Red Wings earned a measure of redemption for two nights’ worth of self-inflicted wounds, to the tune of a pair of 2-0 deficits and two penalty shots called against the Wings in their loss to Toronto and Sunday night’s Fathers’ Trip finale, but the Wings team that shook off its poor start in Chicago was more willing to get its hands dirty in out-grinding and out...
Game 41 tonight at Chicago marks the midway point of the season, and suddenly both the ‘Hawks (24-13-4) and Wings (25-14-1) are looking up in the standings to see STL (24-12-5) atop the Central Division. Missed last nights 4-3 loss at TOR as I was watching Drew Brees dismantle the Lion’s secondary. Nice to see the Wings hold true to form, as they have now alternated wins...
Detroit Red Wings leading scorer Pavel Datsyuk is sitting out against the New York Islanders because of an undisclosed lower body injury that doesn't appear to be serious.
A fan who threw a banana in the direction of Wayne Simmonds of the Philadelphia Flyers during a preseason game in Ontario, was fined $200 for the action Monday.
The Detroit Red Wings activated forward Tomas Holmstrom from injured reserve and sent Gustav Nyquist to the AHL's Grand Rapids Griffins.
Datsyuk, Wings top 'Hawks in OT
The Detroit Red Wings will try to close a four-game road trip on a positive note when they visit the lowly New York Islanders for tonight's battle at Nassau Coliseum.
