ST. LOUIS St. Louis Blues Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today the club signed All-Star goaltender Brian Elliott to a two-year contract.
Brian came in here and helped stabilize our goaltending and make it one of the top tandems in the NHL, said Armstrong. Our goaltending is set having Brian and Jaro signed through the 2013-14 season. Along with Ben Bishop and Jake Allen in Peoria, our depth at goaltender has never been stronger.
Elliott, 26, is currently in his fifth NHL season and first with the Blues. The 63, 204-pound goaltender has posted a 15-5-1 record while he ranks second in the NHL with a 1.68 goals against average, .937 save percentage and a career high tying five shutouts. In addition, Elliott has allowed the fewest goals (36) and suffered the fewest losses among goaltenders with at least 20 starts as well as posted the leagues top home record going 9-1-1 at Scottrade Center. On October 26, 2011 at Vancouver, he became the first Blues goaltender in club history to earn wins in his first four starts of a single season. Overall, Elliott has posted a 76-58-17 record along with a 2.72 goals against average and .906 save percentage during his NHL career. The Newmarket, Ontario native was originally signed by the Blues as a free agent on July 1, 2011.
As a tandem, Elliott and Jaroslav Halak have combined for a 1.98 goals against average, tying the Blues for first overall in goals against average while they hold the outright lead with a combined eight shutouts.

Why The All-Star Game, Captains Don't Matter
Admit it. This was the most memorable moment of last year's All-Star Game.
I hate being contrarian, or show Buzz Killington levels of pooping on parties, but I just can't muster up much caring for the NHL All-Star game this year. I couldn't muster up much for it last year, either. Or in 2009. Or even in 2008 when it was in my backyard. It's just not something that...
