November 10th, 2012 Minnesota (6-5-2) @ Detroit (7-7-0) Detroit plays again tonight at home, as they welcome Ryan Suter, Zach Parise and the Minnesota Wild. Minnesota jumped out to the early and quick lead, with Pierre-Marc Bouchard (1) scoring with only 4 minutes in. He was assisted by who else, Ryan Suter and Zach Parise. Detroit continue to struggle offensively, as Nicklas Backstrom refused to give an inch in the second. Zach Parise (4) however, would find the back of the net against Jonas Gustavsson, who started in relief of Howard. Heatley and Spurgeon assisted. The third was much of the same, with Minnesota making it 3-0 from a Mikko Koivu (8) goal, assisted by Prosser and Setoguchi. Detroit would not go quietly, but it turned out to be only padded stats and a denied shutout, as Kyle Quincy (2) scored his second in two nights, assisted by Cleary and Krownall. Three Stars: Zach Parise – 1G, 1A, 0H, 3S, +2 Nicklas Backstrom, 1.00 GAA, .966 SV% Mikko Koivu – 1G, 0A, 1H, 2S, +1 Notes: Gustav Nyquist suffered a fractured Jaw during the game, however he is considered day to day and with the Wings off until Tuesday, may not miss any time with a faceguard. Other games in play: Edmonton (6-7-0) @ Pittsburgh (7-7-0) The Oilers are shutout completely by Fleury and the Penguins. EDM 0 – 5 PIT New York Rangers (7-4-2) @ Montreal (4-8-2) The Canadiens shock the Rangers with a win. MTL 3 – 1 NYR Carolina (5-7-2) @ Philadelphia (8-5-1) The Hurricanes continue to struggle the past two weeks, losing to the Flyers. PHI 3 – 1 CAR Toronto (5-4-3) @ Washington (10-5-0) The Leafs shock the Capitals at home. TOR 4 – 1 WSH Ottawa (7-5-2) @ Tampa Bay (5-7-0) The Lightning keep upset night going, blowing away the Senators. TBL 5 – 1 OTT Los Angeles (9-4-0) @ Columbus (8-2-2) I don’t even know how to describe this. CBJ 3 – 2 LAK Boston (8-5-1) @ Florida (7-5-1) Does it really matter what I write? You know it’s coming. BOS 1 – 4 FLA St. Louis (5-8-0) @ Nashville (8-5-1) An important division matchup, in which the Blues just can’t get on track. NSH 4 – 1 STL Chicago (6-4-2) @ Dallas (10-4-1) The only game to go the extra mile, but it ends in overtime. DAL 4 – 3 CHI Buffalo (8-3-2) @ Phoenix (6-6-0) Finally, one that makes sense again. It’s been awhile. BUF 4 – 3 PHX Vancouver (6-6-3) @ Colorado (6-7-1) And, we’re back to it. VAN 0 – 4 COL New York Islanders (7-7-0) @ San Jose (5-6-2) This one, in context of the season, is a shocker. Normally, makes perfect sense. SJS 6 – 1 NYI Sunday, November 11th, 2012 Happy Veterans Day! Quiet night here, but there are some games: Calgary (6-5-2) @ Carolina (5-8-2) After a red hot start of the year, the Hurricanes may be in jeopardy of going below .250 on the year. The Flames, are heating up, ironically. CGY 4 – 1 CAR Buffalo (9-3-2) @ Anaheim (6-4-4) The Sabres continue to enjoy the warmer weather and sunny skies. The Ducks, open a homestand with a L. BUF 4 – 1 ANA Edmonton (6-7-1) @ Chicago (7-4-2) Another long game for the Hawks two nights in a row, but the Oilers lose two in two days.
