When it was first reported (by the Orange Country Register) that the Anaheim Ducks were “possibly shopping a top player,” several Preds bloggers got into some friendly banter about what it would take to bring Bobby Ryan to Music City.
Then, tonight, when Rogers Sportsnet’s Darren Millard tweeted that it was, in fact, Ryan who was being shopped, it started to put that friendly banter into perspective.
Along with Preds bloggers James Nelson of Preds Odd Man Rush, Ryan Porth of Smashville 24/7 and Seth Lake of Hockey’s Future, some pretty interesting trade scenarios came up.
While I’ll let them tell you their ideas, my original proposal was Ryan Ellis, Colin Wilson, Teemu Laakso and a first round pick for Ryan. Let me explain why I think it’s realistic and what each team would get out of the deal.
WHY THE PREDS WOULD DO IT
Wilson has really turned it around. Long gone seem to be the days of Head Coach Barry Trotz’s dog house and the continuous frustration that was readily ...

I'm not a big fan of rumors and you all know that. But it seems like everywhere I turn tonight, I'm seeing more and more connections between the New York Rangers and Anaheim Ducks forward Bobby Ryan. Ryan, 24, has gotten off to a rough start this season, only recording eleven points in 24 games, so it is rumored that he is a player the Ducks currently have on their trading...
Been a crazy 18 hours.
Here is the latest, short version.
Many teams are in on Bobby Ryan, as is to be expected. It is almost unheard of that a young player at this talent level is believed to be available. This is simply a money issue in Anaheim, not a case of Anaheim "giving up on Ryan" a source confirms.
The Leafs, Sabres, Bruins, Canes, Hawks, Blues,...
Rumors are swirling that Anaheim Ducks general manager Bob Murray is looking to make changes in Anaheim.
Marred in a seven game losing streak, the Ducks are in grave danger of missing the playoffs, which, for a team that according to Capgeek.com carries a $60,681,263 payroll and has attendance issues, is simply out of the question.
Veteran forward Teemu Selanne leads the Ducks in...
Short answer here: Yes, GM Paul Holmgren should absolutely attempt to acquire Bobby Ryan. The Flyers need defense more than offense, but Ryan is good enough that he's worth going for. There isn't an excess of top-tier defensemen out on the trade block, and Philadelphia has a few good young prospects that could benefit from getting experience now. Erik Gustafsson, Marc Andre...
Multiple sources are telling me that a Bobby Ryan trade is all but definite now. One source in W. Ontario tells me the 4 teams 'currently' involved as the Flyers, Rangers, Carolina, and the Islanders.
Others could always enter and drop off..
There is reason to believe the Flyers could land him. He grew up in the area, played for the Little Flyers Youth Hockey team...
Larry Brooks at the New York Post reports that Rangers have had preliminary talks with the Anaheim Ducks about Bobby Ryan, but the level of interest and ability to make the deal is unclear.Brooks adds that Derek Stepan and Ryan McDonagh are off limits.Sean Gentile at The Sporting News adds that recent reports have said the struggling Ducks (two wins in their last 19 games) have made...
The hottest topic locally in the blog world revolves around the potential availability of the Ducks' Bobby Ryan via trade. Robby Stanley asks if the Predators should be interested in Bobby Ryan. Seth Lake has extensive discussion on the topic at On The Forecheck as does Jeremy Gover at Section 303. Ryan Porth has a round-table discussion and The Odd Man Rush comes off a three month hiatu...
As per Nick Kypreos, the Anaheim Ducks are shopping star RW Bobby Ryan. Ryan is an elite talent and he is incredibly young, just 24 years old. The former second overall pick in 2005 has had a bit of a rough go of it to start the year, with “just” 11 points (7-4-11) in 23 games thus far. That is a far cry from his usual output of about 35-30-65, but it still puts him on pace for...
Milwaukee, WI–Nashville Predators President of Hockey Operations/General Manager David Poile announced today that the club has recalled forward Kyle Wilson from Milwaukee (AHL).
Wilson leads the Admirals in assists (9) and is tied for the team lead in points (13) through 17 games in 2011-12. The Oakville, Ont., native Draft has also appeared in 34 NHL games with Washington and...
When the Nashville Predators hired Kirk Muller this summer to be the bench boss with AHL affiliate Milwaukee Admirals, they knew he probably wasn’t going to be around for long. Before then, Muller was a hot coaching candidate in the NHL after spending time behind Montreal’s bench as an assistant. He even interviewed for three head coaching jobs (Ottawa, Minnesota and Dallas...
