Frei: Todd Bertuzzi-Steve Moore lawsuit pushed back till January 2013

Via RedWingsFeed, I don’t know if this is a good thing or a bad thing, but involves a member of the Red Wings and what is sure to be an incredibly difficult time for him. From the Denver Post’s Terry Frei: Finally scheduled to begin on Sept. 24 in Ontario, the trial in the lawsuit of former Avalanche forward Steve Moore against Todd Bertuzzi, the Vancouver Canucks and Marc Crawford...

Believe - Because It's The MF'ing Detroit Red Wings

After spending 3 days dealing with the stress of taking the Bar and ignoring everything hockey, I was hoping to reawaken to the hockey world by opening NHL.com and see that the Wings signed Semin and/or Doan.   So I'll admit, it stung when I saw these two stories: Yup, a double kick right into the gut.  There was part of me that wanted to fling my computer across the room...

Details of Red Wings’ public sale of Winter Classic tickets slowly emerging

The Red Wings sent out the following email to members of their Winter Classic website’s ticket list, and it appears that a limited sale of tickets to the general public will be taking place soon. It should be noted that this email sends its recipients to the same pricing chart for both the Winter Classic itself and the Alumni Showdown that season ticket-holders have known about...

Red Wings early overnight report: Doan believe the hype? Wings probably bowed out for good reasons

On a tumultuous day for Red Wings’ fans collective and individual emotional well-being, I’d usually stuff this into an overnight report, but we might as well shake the bad news out of the bad news tree while it’s giving: MLive’s Ansar Khan reports that Aaron Ward’s suggestion that the Red Wings have chosen to step out of the bidding for Shane Doan is indeed true, but it’s...

Red Wings overnight report: bullet-pointing the Winter Classic Alumni game, the CBA and Cup visits

I prefer to spend a little extra time on the “overnight reports” to proffer opinions that the day’s news cycle sometimes prevents me from stating—put simply, sometimes the news moves so fast that if you’re going to stay on your skates while trying to tip pucks down into the net, you might want to leave also attempting to balance on a soapbox for other times—but this morning...

Red Wings quickies: Scotty Bowman’s in for the Winter Classic; Brunnstrom goes home; H2H3 is on

My apologies for the lateness of this entry. The mom and I are starting to prepare in earnest for going up to the U.P. for a one-week vacation with her side of the fam on Saturday, and, well…You can imagine that son with anxiety disorder needs to talk to mom with anxiety disorder about both of us freaking out about making something that’s supposed to be easy way too hard. I will...

Grand Rapids Griffins ink assistant coach Jim Paek to a one-year extension

Excellent news from Grand Rapids: Red Wings assistant GM Jim Nill has re-signed perhaps the best assistant coach in the AHL, inking Jim Paek to a one-year contract extension: The longest-tenured coach in Grand Rapids Griffins history, Jim Paek will return for his eighth season as the team’s assistant coach after signing a one-year contract extension with the Detroit Red Wings...

A ‘what it’s really about’ story: Grand Rapids Griffins coach Blashill’s son ok after heart surgery

The fact that new Grand Rapids Griffins coach Jeff Blashill didn’t attend the Red Wings’ summer development camp raised some eyebrows among Wings fans, but I tried to tread very gently in that area because I knew what was happening: Blashill’s 2-year-old son, Owen, was slated to have surgery to repair a hole in his heart at the University of Michigan’s C.S. Mott Children’s...

Red Wings mid-day news: updates on Doan and Eaves, on Smith’s ‘breakout’ and charitable news

Given my personal schedule for the day (running errands and packing for tomorrow’s trip “up north” for a week), and perhaps for all of our nerves’ sake after the no Semin/no Doan bummerfest that was Thursday, today’s crop of Red Wings news is relatively sparse and spartan—at least by this incredibly busy July news cycle’s standards (knock on wood). • Well, okay...

The ‘Red Wings miss out on Alex Semin’ wailing and gnashing of teeth thread

Bad things happen when I go to community mental health and get stuck waiting…and bad things are probably going to happen in this thread. Those of you who have already attempted to hurl yourselves off the Red Wings’ bandwagon may very well want to speak to my psychiatrist or take some of my medication now that Alex Semin’s signed a one-year, $7 million deal with the Carolina...
