After taking a big hit in Thursday’s win over the Red Wings, Sharks defenseman Jason Demers will miss Saturday’s tilt against the Coyotes. With no other defenseman remaining on the active roster after the team shipped Douglas Murray to Pittsburgh, that means Brent Burns, the Sharks’ hottest forward for the past two-and-a-half weeks, will have to slide back to the blue line for the time being. Burns switched to winger from his natural position at defenseman, which he was playing pretty mediocrely, earlier this month in an act of desperation a move by Todd McLellan to spark a lagging offense. And the switch paid immediate dividends—Burns notched two goals and an assist his first two games. In the nine games since the switch to forward, Burns has five goals and five assists.
