The New York Rangers will be looking for their eighth straight win tonight when they take on the Montreal Canadiens in Montreal tonight.
In their previous meeting, the Blueshirts rode a 3-goal first period en route to a 5-3 win at Madison Square Garden. Considering that the Canadiens are not playing in a back-to-back situation, this has the potential to be a very different hockey game.
It should also be a different game for the Blueshirts because of how much they have struggled at the Bell Centre. The club is 1-4-2 in their last six visits and have played extremely sloppy hockey there, especially in front of netminder Henrikl Lundqvist.
However, this might also be a much different Rangers’ team. The Rangers are in the midst of a 7-game winning streak in which they have gotten contributions from all areas of the ice and have once again found their identity, which is a hard working hockey club that never gives up and does what it needs to do to win.

Video: Coach Tortorella Very Pleased with Rangers
Winning or losing, head coach John Tortorella is always critiquing his hockey club and pointing out the things that they can do better. Yesterday, though, with his team on a 7-game winning streak, the coach sat back and pointed out all of the positives he's seen in the Rangers and talked about how they've been so successful.
Here's the video courtesy of Blueshirts...

Post-Practice Interviews: Derek Stepan & Steve Eminger
… Derek Stepan has been a total beast through this 7 game winning streak. Steve Eminger shows flashes of being a solid 3rd pairing d-man than the inconsistency shines through, but so far he has done a decent job. I wonder who will be the first to go when Anton Stralman is ready to play, [...]
Video: Tortorella Discusses Loss to Canadiens
I normally do not post John Tortorella's postgame comments here on the blog, but last night I thought the coach did a fantastic job of summing up his team's 4-0 loss to the Montreal Canadiens at the Bell Centre. For once, I agreed with everything the coach said, so I found this one worth posting...

Pregame: Rangers Want 8th Straight Win, But Can They "Hab" It?
The New York Rangers will not only be seeking their eighth straight win tonight in Montreal, but they will also be looking to make franchise history as well. The Blueshirts have not won eight consecutive games in 37 years, as the last time they succeeded in the accomplishment was in 1975. Because of this, tonight's contest against the Canadiens will put a little more pressure...
Postgame: Rangers' Streak Ends in 4-0 Loss to Habs
All good things come to an end at some point, but it's that much more frustrating when it ends without much of a fight. The New York Rangers did not contest the Montreal Canadiens tonight when defending their seven-game winning streak, and also missed out on an opportunity to make franchise history. There are 101 reasons you can come up with for tonight's loss, but the bottom...

Reviewing the 2006 Draft
Drafts are a tricky beast. It is almost impossible to really evaluate how a team did on draft day, or for several years following the draft. The general rule of thumb is to wait three or four years before really digging down and seeing how a team performed in the draft. Waiting five years, as we have done with this post and the 2006 draft, just adds a little more solid fact to what...
Rangers-Canadiens in review
The Rangers didn’t lose because they’ve had all this time off. They didn’t lose because it’s Hockey Night in Canada in Montreal. They didn’t lose because of the ridiculous pansification rules and penalty calls. They didn’t lose because of a bad goal given up by Martin Biron. They didn’t lose because that sometimes happens when a grinding team runs into a skating team...

After entering November with a 4-3-3 record, the Rangers have vaulted near the top of the Eastern Conference by putting together a seven-game winning streak. And, according to coach John Tortorella, all facets of the team have contributed to the team’s recent success.
