The Boston Bruins announced Tuesday morning that they have re-signed defenseman Matt Bartkowski and have signed 2014 first-round draft pick David Pastrnak to an entry-level deal. The Bruins and Bartkowski were able to avoid going to arbitration after the two sides came to terms on a one-year deal worth $1.25 million. Bartkowski is coming off of a solid first full season in the NHL. He’s still looking for his first career regular-season goal, but the 26-year-old chipped in offensively with 18 assists, and he was a plus-22 in 64 games. Boston was also able to sign Pastrnak, their first-round pick, to an entry-level deal. The 18-year-old Czech Repbulic native was taken by the Bruins with the No. 25 pick, and he impressed the club with a strong showing at development camp last week. Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli wasn’t willing to rule out Pastrnak making the club out of training camp. With this entry-level deal, Pastrnak likely will attend the club’s training camp in September. He appeared in 36 games in the Swedish B League in 2013-14 where he scored eight goals and added 16 assists.Filed under: Boston Bruins, Top Stories
