Roughly two weeks separate fans from the Bruins’ first preseason game of the 2013-14 season. After an unsuccessful Stanley Cup Game 6 win, ending their season, the Bruins never showed any defeat during the offseason. The Bruins will head up north to Canada to face off against the Montreal Canadiens on September 16. Before the preseason begins, General Manager Peter Chiarelli looks to pick from his new rookie roster to add to the bench. The rookie camp, beginning on Wednesday September 4, will showcase countless newly add and talented rookies competing in three definite games. The roster comprises of forwards Anthony Camara, Mitchell Dempsey, Campbell Elynuik, Alex Fallstrom, Justin Florek, Seth Griffith, Jayden Hart, Alexander Khokhlachev, Jared Knight, Matthew Lindblad, Wayne Simpson, Ryan Spooner and Maxime Villemaire. Meanwhile, defensemen Mickael Beauregard, Chris Casto, Alex Cord, Tommy Cross, Jesse Lees, Steven Spinell, and Zach Trotman will protect the netminders of Adam Morrison and Malcolm Subban. Recently added and former Dallas Star, Matt Fraser seems to be a rookie to look out for during this camp. Fraser, a 6-foot-2 left winger, while playing for Kootenay Ice of the Western Hockey League, chipped in 87 goals from 2007-2011. He then competed for the AHL farm team, Texas Stars, in the 2011-12 season, where he collected 55 points. The schedule does begin on Wednesday, however the team does not compete until Friday September 6, where they will battle against Tampa Bay Lightning rookies in Coral Springs, Fla. The team will continue their games until September 8 in Coral Springs, playing the Florida Panthers rookies on Saturday and the Nashville Predators rookies on Sunday. The camp itself finishes on September 10, the day before the Bruins full camp opens.
