Minnesota Wild defensemen Brent Burns has been named to the 2011 NHL All Star Game in Raleigh, North Carolina on Sunday January 30th. Burns was the lone Wild member to make the All Star roster this season. It was also his first ever All Star selection. Although a defensemen, Burns ranks 2nd on the team in goals with 12, one goal behind team leader Cal Clutterbuck, and also ranks 3rd on the club in points with 26. He has played in 40 of the teams 42 games thus far this season. Burns has also been a big part of Minnesota’s 7th ranked power play, scoring 6 of his goals with a man advantage.
The 6’ 5”, 219 lbs. defensemen is from Barrie, Ontario. The 25 year old was drafted 20th overall in the first round as a right wing in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft by the Minnesota Wild. He has 1 goal and 2 assists in his last 5 games, in which the Wild are 4-1-0.
