Currently, the Predators are on a four game losing streak, all of which coming on the road. They are in dyer need of points if they want to be in the playoff conversation. Sergei Kostitsyn may be so deep in Barry Trotz's dog house right now, he may never come out. Yes, he is a top-six forward on the roster, but he hasn't produced nor competed to the high standard the organization has set. Kostitsyn shouldn't be in the lineup, but it will be determined before puck drop. Hal Gill may in fact return from a lower body injury suffered February 23 in Detroit. The penalty kill and the defense in general for the Preds have been mediocre as of late and it would be huge to get Gill back into the lineup. The three keys to victory for Nashville are 1) Play a full 60 minutes; 2) Don't wait until the final moments of the game to play; and 3) Execute on special teams. Flames: Similar to the Preds, the Flames have been on a slump as well. Calgary has been pitiful on the road, going winless in their past seven games. Head coach Bob Hartley has had enough and expect him to switch the defense up a bit.  Sitting four points out of playoff position at 14th, the Flames want this win just as bad as the home team. Expect them to go balls to the wall Thursday night and have a similar showing like their last meeting a week ago. Craig Smith sent to Milwaukee on a conditioning stint…

Nashville Predators forward Craig Smith is headed to the Milwaukee Admirals on a conditioning assignment. Smith has struggled with consistency this season. He has nine points in 30 games, was recently benched (and then scratched in the following game) after failing to clear the puck in the second period of Tuesday’s game against the Columbus Blue Jackets and has a team worst minus...

Erat has breakout game against Flames

Coming into Thursday night’s contest against the Calgary Flames, it had been 21 games since Martin Erat had scored a goal for the Nashville Predators. He had only notched four(More here)…

Conditioning assignment helped Halischuk

A short-term assignment to Milwaukee worked for Matt Halischuk earlier this month. Will it pay dividends for Craig Smith?

Calgary Flames: Let’s Get the Fire Started

Photo courtesy of Getty Images. By Ryan Holmer (@RyanHolmerNHL) As we approach the trade deadline, the Calgary Flames and Jay Feaster are closer than ever to an actual fire sale. Trade rumours have begun to run wild, and hockey ‘insiders’ everywhere are listing prices for players, and if they’re available or not. Feaster – while he hasn’t made any moves yet, is certainly...

Flames-Predators Preview

Less than a week ago, Calgary soundly beat the Nashville Predators to extend its longest home winning stretch of the season. Based on the way the Flames have played on the road, they'd settle for any margin of victory in the teams' next meeting. The Flames look to avoid their first eight-game road skid in 13 years while trying to hand the Predators a season-high fifth consecutive...

So, What if the Preds are sellers at the deadline?

So, the Nashville Predators are sitting in 10th place right now, with a little under half of the season to go. It’s a tight race in the NHL this year, as the half season has made it anyone’s game, even this late in the show. But you’re David Poile and you’re like “Wow, we’re totes on the outside looking in right now. And our top guys are playing brutal for us lol...

Bobby Ryan, Jarome Iginla Remain at Top of Trade Wish List for Bruins Fans As Team Looks in Need of Shake-Up (Video)

A short time ago, the Bruins looked like an unstoppable juggernaut poised to cruise to a Northeast Division crown and a top seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs. Now, fans are getting a little restless. The team’s recent play hasn’t exactly been sterling, but the Bruins have shown some chinks in the armor. With the NHL’s trade deadline looming in the not-so-distant future...

What Happens With Iginla?

from Eric Duhatschek of the Globe and Mail, The goal for any general manager in a position to sell is the same – drum up a market for his available players. If Feaster can interest two or more teams in Iginla – or in Jay Bouwmeester, Miikka Kiprusoff, Cory Sarich, Lee Stempniak or Mike Cammalleri – then he could get some tangible assets in return. No one can say for sure...

Preds send Smith to Milwaukee for conditioning assignment, can he find his stride?

Photo Credit: AP Photo/Bill Boyce Our own James Nelson called it prior to it’s actual release and moments ago the Predators indeed did announce the same thing, Craig Smith has indeed been sent down to Milwaukee for a conditioning assignment. Prior to February 2nd, 2012, Smith had 31 points (11 goals and 20 assists) in 50 games total. In the previous 52 games, however? 6 goals and...

Predators play a good seven minutes of hockey; obviously isn't enough

(Photo by: Jamie Sabau/Getty Images)     The Predators need to forget everything that ever happened on this road trip. They simply have not looked like a team that cares over the last 5 games. They went 1-4, capped off by tonight's 4-3 loss to the Coumblus Blue Jackets. The Preds came out with surprising enthusiasm and were all over the home team in the...

Preds snap losing streak to start home stand

(Photo by: John Russel/Getty Images) The Nashville Predators snapped their four game losing streak to start a four game home stand. Nashville defeated the Calgary Flames 5-3 after a slow start in the first period. However, the Predators were able earn two much need points. “We had no quit,” said defenseman Kevin Klein. “We could have [been] down on ourselves, but...
