Love ‘ Em & Hate ‘Em Boxscore | Recap Hot off the heels of their first victory of the year, the Canucks did one better and stuffed the Ducks like they were foie gras. It was easily the best game of the year for Vancouver, and fitting revenge for last weekend. This was one of those flawless victories. I mean, Zack Kassian scored again and Jordan Schroeder picked his first point ever and they couldn’t even crack the Love ‘Em. Love ‘Em 1. Shutout for Schneider No better way to bounce back from being pulled in the season opener than to shutout the Ducks at home. One game doesn’t make a season, even in Vancouver, and Schneider has been getting better and better as more puck is being played. 2. Everyone loves Raymond again Meanwhile Mason Raymond is having a shockingly productive start Meanwhile Mason Raymond is having a shockingly productive start. His two goals this game give him three on the year after having just 10 all last year. He’s learning to harness his speed and looks confident. Keep an eye on him, this could be interesting. At the least, it helps his trade value. 3. The Volpatser Meanwhile Aaron Volpatti was an assist away from the ole Gordie Howe hat trick. Big game for the fourth liner who could be easily tagged as the most expendable forward. He has to fight, sometimes literally, every night to prove his worth in the line up. On nights like these, it pays off beautifully. Hate ‘Em 1. Decline the penalty shot Alex Burrows was awarded a penalty shot in the second period, and it was executed in typical Canuck fashion. So, not well. That’s supposed to be the money deke! Alex! It’s a larger trend we’ve seen the past few games where the Canucks need to figure out how to be effective with those beat the goalie one-on-one thing. 2. Corey Perry’s meltdown It was hilarious. Poor little guy. Probably just mad he plays for a team with the worst jerseys in the league and no logo whatsoever. Hate you, buddy. 3. Um I dunno. It could have been 6-0? Chris Higgins was invisible again? Or maybe, that Jordan Schroeder guy seems short. We should fix that. Notes: Beleskey fought again three minutes into the third period when Kevin Bieksa challenged him. Canucks center Manny Malhotra missed the game to attend the birth of his son. Vancouver rookie Schroeder assisted on Mason Raymond’s second goal for his first NHL point in his second career game. CLICK HERE CHECK OUT THE VANCOUVER CANUCKS CLUBHOUSE TODAY ON NWSB!
