For the NHL Gamblers! Headline: Blackhawks Take Aim At History – Host Canucks Tuesday Night The hated Chicago Blackhawks could make a little history Tuesday night when they gun for their 16th straight game in which they have generated at least a point to start the season. Standing in their way from tying the 2006-2007 Anaheim Ducks (who went on to win the Cup that year) is the Vancouver Canucks who have lost two straight games after winning six in a row. Vancouver Canucks (8-3-0-3) at Chicago Blackhawks (12-0-0-3) When: 8:30 PM ET, Tuesday, February 19, 2013 Where: United Center, Chicago, Illinois Broadcast: Rogers Sportsnet Pacific (Vancouver), CSN (Chicago) Canucks vs. Hawks Betting Lines from Bodog Vancouver Canucks +1½ -265 +114 Ov 5½ +119 Chicago Blackhawks -1½ +225 -126 Un 5½ -131 The Hawks will also have a little extra motivation as the Canucks beat them in a shootout February 1 for one of their three extra-time losses on the season. You don’t have to look to deep into why the Canucks have dropped two straight ahead of their Tuesday showdown with the Hawks. During their six game win streak, Vancouver gave up a total of six goals – during their two game slide, they have let lead slip away and have surrendered a total of seven goals. Cory Schneider and Roberto Luongo have finally hit speed bump – unfortunately ate the same time. At least the offense is finally starting to click. The offense looking better has everything to do with the return of Ryan Kesler who has a goal and an assist in two games since returning to action. He solidifies the second line, he plays on the first power play unit and he is a truly special penalty killer. Daniel Sedin, Vancouver’s new all-time point’s leader and Henrik Sedin look much better with Kes protecting them in the lineup. There is simply more room to roam and more to key on for the opposition when Kesler is in the lineup. Daniel Sedin has seven points in his last six games for Vancouver Daniel Sedin has seven points in his last six games for Vancouver and Mason Raymond has scored twice and added four assists in the last six overall. David Booth could make his season debut Tuesday as well which makes Vancouver that much more potent. It’s uncertain if Luongo or Corey Schneider will start when the Canucks open a four-game trip. Luongo’s four-game winning streak ended Sunday with a 4-3 shootout loss to St. Louis, dropping him to 4-0-3 with a 1.63 GAA. Schneider is 4-3-0 with a 2.62 GAA and could not hold a two-goal lead in a 4-3 loss to Dallas on Friday. Luongo was in net for the 2-1 win over Chicago earlier this month, while Schneider is 1-1-0 with a 4.60 goals-against average lifetime against the Blackhawks. The Chicago Blackhawks are the only remaining team that has not tasted defeat in Regulation – they are the gold standard in the NHL right now. Like the Canucks, the Hawks have goaltending to spare – with Corey Crawford out Ray Emery has been terrific. He’s 5-0-0 with a 2.17 goals-against average this season and has stopped 52 of 55 shots for Chicago’s in his last two starts. Offensively, we know what the Hawks are going to bring – four solid lines and arguably two of the best forward lines in the game. Chicago is averaging 3.33 goals per game this season and they own two of the top 15 scorers overall in the NHL – Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews. Kane has three goals and two assists in his last four versus Vancouver. Dave’s Won’t Cost You Anything Free Betting Prediction: A few trends to consider: • Under is 12-4-7 in VAN last 23 road games. • VAN are 6-2 in their last 8 overall. • VAN are 6-2 in their last 8 vs. Western Conference. • Under is 7-0-1 in CHI last 8 home games. • CHI are 9-2 in their last 11 games following a win. • CHI are 2-8 in their last 10 vs. Northwest. A heated and hated rivalry writes another interesting chapter Tuesday night – you can bet that the Canucks will be motivated to keep the Blackhawks out of the history books. Vancouver has had two “average” games in a row and are prime for a bounce back. The Hawks have to lose sometime – Ray Emery’s undefeated streak has to end soon! My bet is it will happen Tuesday.
