As first reporrted by TSN's Darren Dreger and then confirmed by Stephen Whyno of the Washington Times, the Washington Capitals have signed winger Joey Crabb to a one-year deal worth $950,000.
Crabb spent last season with the Toronto Maple Leafs, where he scored 11 goals and had 26 points in 67 games. His corsi was in the negatives, but he faced tough zone starts on a bad Toronto team. Crabb is 29, and fills the need of fourth-line winger that Washington had. He can kill penalties and works very hard - and for less than a million, you can find values that are a lot worse.
This fills one of Washington's needs. Next up are two more important ones - top six forwards.

Colby Armstrong Signs With Montreal
Not a big signing by any stretch of the imagination but Montreal needs some sort of scoring somewhere and Armstrong is a cheap option for them. Colby is intent on proving that he can still be a factor in the NHL but at this point any chance of that is slim. Another low risk, somewhat [...]
