Found October 10, 2013 on NESN.com:
Product integration. Jack Donaghy would be proud. Hockey fans, however, should be shaking their heads. The Los Angeles Kings and the makers of the new Tom Hanks film, Captain Phillips, found what they thought was a clever way to combine their two products for Wednesday night’s game against the Ottawa Senators. The Staples Center ran a promotion for a shootout — sponsored by a movie about Somali pirates wielding guns in which those captured were lucky to escape with their lives. Ah, whatever. Hanks made it out OK, and the world can think that “rapid fire shootout” is a thing that’s barely more dangerous than flying pucks. Check out the promo below. Lest anyone think that the “Captain Phillips Shoot Out” is not an actual promotion by a professional sports franchise http://t.co/02pvFl1nA3— The Royal Half (@theroyalhalf) October 10, 2013 Filed under: Headlines, Los Angeles Kings, NESN Staff, NHL, Offbeat

Jeff Carter deflects winner for Kings in OT, 4-3 over Sens

This was the definition of a bounce-back game for a long list of Kings players. But before they could quite get to that destination they had to survive a wobble and a bad bounce or two at the end of regulation needing forward Jeff Carter's power-play goal just 28 seconds into overtime to secure a 4-3 victory over the persistent Ottawa Senators on Wednesday night at Staples Center...

Hockey Hilarity: That was Quick… And Easy

Friday funnies brought to you straight from hockey’s own players, media personnel, and broadcast botches. We’ll be mucking it up every week right here, examining puck ups, puns, tweets, and more! I think all of us can agree that Jonathan Quick of the Los Angeles Kings is a pretty good goaltender, maybe even one of the best ever when he’s on like he was in the 2011-2012 season...

Senators-Kings Preview

Jonathan Quick should get a chance to redeem himself. The Los Angeles Kings would just like to avoid a three-game slide. Quick will try to bounce back from a costly gaffe and help the Kings continue their home dominance of the Ottawa Senators on Wednesday night. Quick started this season in strong fashion, stopping 27 of 29 shots before turning aside both shootout attempts in...

Jonathan Quick scores on himself

I thought this was funny, one of my buddies put it on my Facebook page. It's a third-period shorthanded goal from former Wisconsin Badger Ryan McDonagh. That was McDonagh's first goal of the year. The Kings ended up winning the game 3-1.

Video: Jonathan Quick gives up an embarrassing goal against the Rangers

Jonathan Quick is one of the best goaltenders in the NHL. Despite owning that title, he has given up his fair share of embarrassing goals over the course of his career. LA's game against the New York Rangers on Monday night yielded another unfortunate moment for the goaltender as Ryan McDonagh scored a 174-foot shorthanded goal to give the Rangers a 3-1 victory.  Oh...

Five-Hole Friday: Goalie Talk and Rankings

Would goalies be affected high, low, or maybe even the five-hole (a nice plug for the column title)?. After...
