Chicago Blackhawks Hockey - The Chicago Blackhawks have come to terms on a two-year deal with their 2010 2nd round pick, Stephen Johns.
Who Is Stephen Johns?
Johns is a 21-year-old defenseman out of Notre Dame. Stephen Johns stands at 6’4″ and weighs 234 pounds.
Here is a quick look at Johns from hockeysfuture.com
“Johns is a big stay-at-home defenseman with good character. Johns’ best asset is his ability to dole out punishment through the physical game, though he does lose defensive positioning at times looking for the big hit. Though he may not project as much of a scorer at the pro level, Johns can deliver hard, accurate passes on the breakout and is not shy about taking shots from the blue line to get the puck to the front of the net.”
Look for Johns to finish out the season in Rockford with a possible call up as a “black ace” come playoff time. This is another move by Stan Bowman in an effort to add depth to the blue line in the Blackhawks organization.
