Philadelphia Flyers captain Claude Giroux has said in the past week that he plans on playing in the preseason game against the New Jersey Devils. His plans have hit a roadblock and he may not play at all this preseason.
Giroux is still recovering from surgery to repair two severed tendons in his right hand after his golf club shattered at the grip during his swing in early August.
Unexpectedly, Giroux started taking wrist shots on the second day of training camp. He wasn’t expected to take shots until at least the second week of camp. Giroux said his hand felt good and decided to try taking shots.
After originally being ahead of schedule, Giroux’s hopes of playing against the Devils seem to have diminished after practice today. The reason for this is because he still can’t do some things he wants to do. If this continues, Giroux may not see any playing time during the preseason because the team won’t want to rush him back and end up with him hurting his hand again.
